audi dealer garage has damaged my car - please help

  • Hi,

I was just looking to add something to warn people about this but it seems I am already too late and should have checked here first.

I have used a Honda main dealer to do my servicing for the past several years and am extremely careful about my car but as I had been made redundant and finances are extremely difficult at the moment, I had a full service with my normal garage who did not find any faults and then booked it into the Audi Chingford garage. They weren't overly helpful before I went in and took longer on the day, all things I could live with.

But my car failed it's MOT on rear wheel lubricants, I have eexact thing here somewhere. I was surprised as these issues were not raised when I had been at the main dealer the previous week, as they would have made the money from the repair. Audi quoted me £800 to repair the car.

I went back to the Honda main dealer and spoke to the Mechanic who confirmed he had double checked these parts as these are what can wear out and he remembers double checking. I am extremely likely to believe this garage as I have used them for both mine and my partners car on reccomendation for several years and they have always been fantastic.

My car went in after a full sevrice to Audi and now it has faults, the parts that were broken could have been snapped off by hand or smashed of, but are unlikely to have broken whilst simply driving.

So I am left with the feeling that Audi deliberately broke these parts to gain some more work for themselves. I will never be going back to Audi again, please bear this in mind, after all they are car salesman!!! Apologies to any straight car salesman out there.

This has now cost us a significant amountn of money instead of just the price of an MOT. I am utterly devestated but have not contacted VOSA, as to be honest, I cannot deal with the stress but do not want anybody else to suffer.

    Good luck guy x
  • Why did you take the car else where just after a service...? Was it just for the MOT?

Use council run MOT centre's next time!
  • Dont get why you would have your car serviced at your "trusted" honda garage, and then drive it to an Audi dealer for an MOT......

Guess that's the appeal of the free MOT. Sadly the point has been missed that it was not really free and has been paid for in some way or another in the end. I believe they are supposed to check for PAS leaks at the MOT so perhaps this checking could have dislodged one of the pipes. I also find "the pipe going from front to back" a bit dubious, unless you have an audi dumper truck with steering on both axles.
