    Hi
A website that small is probably worth having a go at yourself - at least initally. html (not considered very sophisticated these days but fine to get something basic sorted!) is very easy to get the hang of if you're starting small and at all technically minded there are lots of websites where you'll find (free) help from willing volunteers!

To get a view on how it works look the kind of website that you're aiming for (small businesses who've done it themselves!) and in Internet Explorer click on view / source from the menu.

If you don't like the look of all that code, do a google search on something like 'free web page templates' and see what you come up with.

You can even save 'as a webpage' in Word so you could experiement and see how you get on. Just try to keep it simple and you should be able to come up with something that works ok - initially at least!

As it's for a business you're probably not looking for free web space, so you need to look at hosting (ie, the process of having your website on the internet available for all to see). If you went through somebody like 1and1 (.co.uk) you can get your hosting from £3.99 / month and that includes (amongst other things such as a domain name) their 'website builder' which is supposed to be for novices (though I don't know what it's like as I've never used it). You can get much cheaper hosting/domain name at other sites though - I've used easyspace.co.uk recently - I think I paid £25 for a year.

Lots of information - not sure everybody will agree with all I've said but I hope some of it's useful! :)

As what you are doing is sounds relatively simple then you should be able to do this extremely cheaply, particularly if you do not need to have anything created especially for the website (like logos etc).

Domain names are about £6-8 for a .co.uk (2 years) and about £10 a year for a .com

If it is a simple brochure site then you will not need any database backend so can get away with a small shared hosting package which I've seen available from around £25 a year. A good place to look for hosting is the Web Hosting Talk Forums where you can learn more about a host and ask for help advice in deciding exactly what package you need.

If you have Word, then you should be able to design your page using it ready for someone to convert it or put it online if you need help with doing that...

The more you can do yourself, the cheaper it will be - but it is achievable for around £50-100.
The only computer error is a human one.

Contact a local web design company, explain you require a static website with basic hosting for low traffic. Expect to pay £300 including domain name.

Whatever you do, don't use moonfruit. Awful websites. Really unprofessional - usually used by dreadful 12 year old punk bands.

Word makes horrible code and is NOT a sensible option, especially for a business.

If you want to do it yourself but don't know any HTML use NVU - it's free and not too bad. Ideally learn some basic HTML - it's pretty easy and there's loads of sites that can help. Lissa Explains it All is aimed at kids but really easy to follow.

It shouldn't be very expensive for a small site like that. Things to consider are maintenance, hosting and if you need any graphics designing.
