When applying, i choose £10 as the lump sum to open the account with, thats not left my current account or has registered in my FD account. ? how long does this process takE?0 -
At what point do you receive the online username details?
I have applied for the ISA and received the paperwork including a transfer form which I completed. I received a letter from first direct to confirm they have asked the other provider for the funds and I can see that those funds have been transferred out to first direct.
But, I have nothing to use to login to first direct to check!0 -
I received a letter from FD saying "Welcome to your new first direct cash e-isa". Within this letter it said I had to activate my account and set up a few security details by calling them on their 08456100100 number (use 0113 234 5678 if you use a call diversion number such as 0899). I rang them, set up the security details and they gave me the numbers I needed to set up online access which I did.crumpetman wrote: »At what point do you receive the online username details?

I returned the transfer forms to them on 17/10/09 then decided to cancel the transfer on 22/10 because I was worried about the cheque getting caught up in the postal strike. This I did by phone. I was surprised to get a closing statement from NatWest on Saturday 7/11 to say the account was closed and the money sent on 3/11:eek:. (By coincidence, I had just made a note on my list of things to to re-send the transfer forms.) On ringing FD on Saturday with a view to getting mad at them, I was told they received the cheque from NatWest on 6/11! Also, because I had asked, they said they would backdate the interest to the day they received the cheque, not the day they applied it to the account. Have just checked online and the cheque has today been applied to my account.0 -
Thanks very much for your reply billieboy. I think that first direct must be in the process of setting up the isa as in the original application it said that the account would be opened upon receiving the transfer of funds from my existing isa provider.
I shall give them a call to check how this is all going.0 -
im currently filling in my transfer form for first direct. one question is have u subscribed to your current isa in the currant tax year.does that mean have i added any money to it ie used up my allowance or did u open it in the currant tax year?. im a little confused by it. my current isa was opened last december and i have used up my allowance for this tax year.0

Subscription = paying any money into the ISA account this tax year from any source other than a transfer from another ISA. 'Yes' is your answer.I came, I saw, I saved.

I had a message at work today to call First Direct. I phoned them and they said it was about my ISA application and they had to specifically phone me back at work for "security purposes to verify my employer".
Sounds like a load of twaddle to me. Think it's more about determining if you've got a job so they can try and upsell you credit cards and rubbish. I gave 'em a good talking to about never phoning me at work again.0 -
I have a Bradford and Bingley E-isa that has almost matured and I am in the process of transferring it to First Direct (got in before they withdrew the 3% fixed rate)
First Direct sent me the transfer forms and it asks for the name and address of `existing isa manager`.
Do I just put down Bradford and Bingley as the `ISA manager`? I dont recall any particular names/manager of anyone when I applied last year.
Fairly new to this so forgive the ignorance

Started the transfer process 8 weeks ago by applying online to open a FD ISA followed by a transfer request from RBS. The money finally left my RBS account a week ago (although still no sign of it appearing in my FD account yet).
The speed of the whole process is very frustrating. At least I knew what to expect from reading this forum. Plus the fact I'm going from 0.55% RBS to 3% FD still makes it financially worthwhile. But it's opened my eyes to the fact it's not really worthwhile making a transfer for a small increase in interest.0
