Best time to transfer on 30 day rolling contract?
Hi all
I have a SIM only/ 30 day rolling contract with Vodafone. I'm thinking of switching to Virgin Mobile to get a better package for the same price but I wasn't sure how it worked in terms of timing.
I know when I've been on a normal contract (that passed the usual 12/18/24 months period) in the past, I'd just call and get a PAC number and give it to the new provider and once it ported over, the exisiting provider would only charge me up to the point at which the number ported over. But what about these 30 day contracts?
If I get a PAC numbere now and give it to Virgin (I understand it now only takes about 2 days to port over) are Vodafone likely to charge me until the end of the month? or is the whole 30 days notice only applicable if you cancel completely (i.e cancel your number too).

Yep, 30 days notice still stands with PAC. Best thing to do is request your PAC, wait 25 days then port over to Virgin. Saves you paying twice.0

To save money I recently downgraded my Vodafone SIM deal to 100 mins/500 text for £10, but then saw Virgin is doing 200 mins and unlimited text for the same price. If I mention this to Vodafone that I want to switch for that deal are they likely to match the deal, or at £10 a month will they just happily let me go?
Hi Welshladyinthecity
I see that you are looking to leave Vodafone on your SIM only package and port across to Virgin.

......... can you price match the virgin offer?0 -
I'm sure Vodafone will price beat Virgin....
I've had dealings with Vodafone Retentions over the past few weeks and have found them to be really competative.
If you give Vodafone Retentions a call i'm sure they will be able to beat the offer Virgin Mobile have.
Just out of curiosity what have Virgin offered you??0
