One thing this hamster hunting malarky has tought me is that there are a load more toys shops out there that i had no idea existed, so i will be looking in everynow and then to see what they have on offer.

    It's a really nice shop, I'd recommend them whole-heartedly.

Me too. Delivery from hoorayfortoys was very quick and all items were beautifully packed in plenty of bubblewrap. Prices for hampsters and add-ons was a bit more than RRP, but it was worth it in the end to have hassle-free order:T
  • feeling so down tonight, I tried cmgiftsandcollectibles for over an hour and made my son continuously refresh his computer too. At one point I had a house but the site crashed before I could pay for it.

this is so frustrating and so is the worrying thought that the hamsters I bought from Amazon haven't arrived.

I completely understand the tears in Argos, I cried myself when I had the house from ebay the other day but failed on the paypal stage to get it. Reloaded page and the houses were gone.

Santa just ain't gonna cut it this year me thinks.
If you want to be rich, never, ever have kids ;)
  • I received my Amazon hamsters this morning - estimated delivery was 20th, so there's still hope!!!

Without reading all of this thread and having bought my 2 a hamster under duress......

Does anyone think real hamsters will come out on top when the kids go back to school after Xmas?

They're cheap, all the accessories can be found locally?

We had a real hamster a few years back he was great, we loved him so much we had him for a year and was soft as anything then one day he just turned, and you couldnt go near his cage as all he would do was bite, and as i had 2 small kids they couldnt understand why they couldnt hold him anymore, we had to re-home him with someone who didnt mind him biting them and we were all heartbroken.

We got another hamster last year who we called alcatraz as on the way home he managed to chew his way out of the little transporter card board box and we spent 2 hours sat i the car not daring to get out until we had found him. DF was panicking that he'd chew through expensive wires on the car but he didn't. Then after about 6 months he got poorly, so we took him to the vets and the vet said he had a virus and would die. The vet advised us that this virus was highly contagious and to dispose of the cage and all accesories immediately and we wouldnt be able to get another one for a year at least. I darent get another real hamster in case the virus is still around as it would break my kids hearts to loose another one.

Real hamsters are nocturnal so you rarely see them during the day. And you have to find a sitter for them if you go away for the weekend.

It is getting harder each day. I am getting to the stage I'm thinking of using the hours spent searching, doing work, and buy the other bits I need from ebay. I'm spending hours and I could quite easily make more doing my employ, and just pay somebody off ebay. This is really giving me a headache!!
