  • i wonder if the plastic bits some are referring to at the back which have fallen off are some sort of tab for demo purposes, you know how some noisy toys have them on and you have to take them off to get the proper noises?
  • About the broken two little bits and "lose hamsters in boxes":
Two of the hamsters we got (from Argos) were like this; they both were lose from the first two straps in the box (so only held by the one under their bums), and I did find two tiny bits of plastic at the bottom of one box. BUT this hasn't stopped them from working; those two work exactly as well as the Chunk we got that was packed fine. As far as I could see those two little bits were just there to hold the hamster in the box. I don't think they are used to read the codes in the house as my "broken" hamsters have been making their sounds fine. Imo if you notice your hamsters have these broken bits then give them a try - I reckon they'll be fine too. And when you turn them over you can't even tell they're missing those little bits btw :)

Don't worry I just opened my pipsqueak as she was loose. My plastic bits are broken but this doe not affect the hamster with regards to the house. The code reader that works for the house is situated at the front of the hamsters and is twolittle prongs that go in and out. The plastic flaps that have broken off mine are on the side of the battery cover and don't actually do anything...were possibly there to attach the hammy to the box!!!

OMG thank you. My DH and I just checked the instructions and he just said the same as you, he said they are rather like scalextric and the bits that are broken are probably just there to pack them.

Panic over everyone....I'm sorry. :o I shall go and make my post smaller and feel safe knowing that at least we have exercised caution and that i didn't make myself look like a complete fool returning it, I mean how silly having two bits of plastic that fall off in the pack to scare me like that! :rotfl:
  • well you never can be to careful i suppose it doesnt hurt to find these things out before they are opened on christmas day

can some one tell me how easy the hamsters are to remove from the box and put back in so that i can take them out and play with them oops i mean test them before i give them to my kids for christmas :D

I went to all that trouble to get the hamsters wasn't going to let it go in a hurry!!!!

But It better to be safe than sorry :D
  • It's easily done don't worry, at least if someone else posts about the same thing in a few days time when the thread has moved on a good few pages then we'll know what to tell them.

Thanks guys, it is best to be safe I was only looking to see if the cover is removable...and out popped these 2 bits of plastic...I'm a worrier anyway without the pressure of knowing if these break they are not easily replaced.

I'm thinking that I may not be the only one who posts about this between now and boxing day.
