For those of you who have ordered items from play.com over the last few days.

Some people have got the status up as 'on order' or 'awaiting stock'.

I rang them this morning to obtain clarification of what these statuses meant.

Basically both mean the item is OUT OF STOCK. I complained because many ordered the items as soon as they were listed so how could they be out of stock within seconds...the impression I got that was they were expecting deliveries and had allowed people to order up to the amount they were expecting.

So, to cut a long story short, both terms (awaiting stock and on order) effectively mean the same thing - that they are out of stock. However they are expecting these back in, in around 28 days and then it will take a further 5-7 days for delivery from the warehouse. An anxious wait for many I would think.

I advised her that this was unacceptable and that I wanted further clarification. She said that she would e mail their warehouse to find out and that she would get back to me... I will post any updates when received.

So in the meantime, i would just advise keep looking for whatever you have ordered and if you manage to get it, just go back into your play.com account and cancel the order. No money is taken till dispatch anyway so there is no harm in leaving the order active for now.

If you have an out of stock status, then forget it, cancel and look elsewhere because it looks like they will be lucky if they have enough stock for what was ordered. If you got any other status like packing, processing, and if it hasn't changed back to one of the statuses above, then it looks like you're item is going through the system and you should get it soon.

I think what they are doing is selling their allocation which they know is in a shipment of containers, which is either stuck in customs or due in. They know they have a circa date, along with everyone else, just not in depot yet.

I promised this wouldn't take over my life - keep telling myself that it was ok that I put the slide back on the shelf in TRU a fortnight ago lol. I originally only bought a hamster (chunk), as one of dd's classmates brought Mr Squiggles in for show n' tell, so she then wanted one. I'd already finished buying dd's xmas presents about 3 months ago and vowed I wasn't going to buy anymore....

I'm just happy with what I've got for now, wee chunk, mr squigs, house (2) and a car. Also may have a buyer at rrp for the extra house, with someone at my work interested.

I'll be happy if I aquire the odd additional hamster, I even had a choice in Argos 2 weeks ago - they brought out all 4 for me to choose from.

There was a load of furreal cats in Asda too. £14.99 each..... I got the dogs from an argos clearance warehouse for £4.99 each last month :T My kids would probably prefer the cats, but I saved £20 on the dogs so they will have to do :rotfl:

TRU Northampton are expecting a delivery on Tuesday. Think the deliveries usually come in late afternoon. Last Tuesday they knew what had come in very late afternoon about 4 ish I think but worth calling from about 2pm. HTH someone.

Yay, just had a email from Amazon to say that my 2 hammies that I ordered for £7.99 each yesterday have been despatched!!!!!!!!!!! On top of my Chunk from Hooray being despatched yesterday evening too, I am a happy bunny (or should that be hamster ;-) )
