  •:eek::eek: You are kidding? That is shocking! I reserved the last house at an argos store near me for any fellow MSE's if they needed the number. Turns out that a friend of a friend is looking for the house so she now has the reservation number. Would never dream of selling the number on ebay! The prices of some of the items on ebay are unreal. I'm glad I got all my bits and bobs but IMO if I could only get the hamsters, I'd give my daughter the money on xmas day to go out and buy the add ons etc when they became more readily available. Wouldn't line the pockets of some scrooge at xmas:rolleyes: Bah humbug to those who are only in it for a profit!

How can I be preventing someone else's child from having it when their mother now has the number?

:confused:But you will have prevented somebody else from buying it for their child if you have reserved it and are not going to pay for it

Or maybe, just maybe they may have prevented an ebay seller buying it to sell for profit. Just my opinion ;)

I'm really not sure about all this.
No idea about the ethics of reserving items at Argos and offering number to other forum members but I honestly thought buying and selling on MSE was prohibited and against forum rules.
I am clearly mistaken so perhaps in future I will offer this and help others but I do not want to get banned or anyone in any sort of trouble.

I'm not intending to offend just saying what I thought was the rules for the safety and security of MSE members.

You are partly correct, but reserving an item for another MSE whilst they are at work isn't going to get you pulled in before Judge Martin.

As I said I stand corrected - there have been many occasions on MSE when I could have helped another member by getting an item for them so will bear this in mind in future :)

This thread has become very tit for tat, galvanizersbaby earlier you asked maximouse if she had all the bits she needs for her hammie collection, it was an obvious attempt to try and fish information as to whether your suspicions that she is spamming a particular site and now hours later you are still hinting that you still think she may have another motive in her posts. You should consider that some people are just helpful, sometimes overly, maximouse has been posting throughout this thread various stock in various shops it hasnt been focused on one particular shop.

I appreciate what you are saying about forum rules, but it is not going to alter the fact that whats done is done and you have made your point, we wont discuss it again, 2 pages of talking about breaking rules is only going to draw more attention to the issue.

As for the reservation codes, I think MSE members have genuinely reserved in hope they can collect themselves in a rush decision and then sourced from elsewhere or havent been able to travel. There hasnt been any deliberate reservations from what I have read. Even so, I saw 30 balls listed on ebay at £20 each so i dont feel that leaving things in argos means another child will benefit as the ebay sellers are snapping them up for profit.

I dont wish to have any personal debate with you, I just think you have made your point and it has been taken into consideration but maximouse is actually getting upset by all this which isnt fair if she is genuine as it can hurt a persons feelings if they are only trying to help.

I have been reading this thread for the past few days. I originally came on MSE to look for details regarding the boots offers, but came across this thread. I had (or so i thought) already finished my daughters xmas present shopping, that was until i read this thread and wondered what all the fuss was about.... as it turns out, i have been out and now got num nums... a house and a slide today. I do feel that i too would much prefer to buy items/sell to other mums etc that are looking for these toys rather than feed some selfish greedy person selling items on ebay. I dont think it is fair to judge people, if anyone feels that someone is doing wrong, fair enough question it, but there is no need to be nasty, after all, we are all here to try and save money... arent we?!?!
On a more lighter note.... num nums is so sweet.... had to have a quick play before i wrapped it up.... now im too wondering whether to get more, if they each do something slightly different!
  • This forum is here to help. And as items are reserved - no monies have actually exchanged. The reservation number is given to those who want it - it is up to them if they want to pay for the items or not.
Sorry to say that there are some greedy people out there just wanting the items to offload on ebay to make a few extra pennies but if you read this thread start to finish then you will see that it is filled with parents wanting to complete the set - not for ebay but for their children/grandchildren etc.
Yes there is a big hype about the go go pets and that hype will only just increase in the run up to xmas. And as MM has pointed out, some of the retailers will not have any more stock until just before or even after xmas. I for one am glad I have the set and if I can help out others then I will when I can. Nothing worse than heartbroken children on xmas morning because santa only brought a hamster and garage.
Does anyone remember the carnage trying to get a buzz light year or woody doll? Driving store to store only to find out you have just missed out? Where as this forum is helping people and pointing them in the right direction. If by the time they get there the store has sold out then it's sods law but at least they will have a rough idea of when stock will be due back and where thanks to the posters in this thread.

As I say in my post above I stand corrected
I don't still think MM has a motive tbh - have apologised for my suspicions and wished her well.
I am just surprised that we are allowed to offer items so openly on here to others as I have already said - I thought that was against forum rules but again apologies for my mistake here
So lots of apologies there :) can't make too many more!
Off to bed now so happy hamster hunting to all
