She's only been there a week or two now, so we don't know the other parents enough yet. I'm really worried about this!DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0

Why not get a pack of dye and use a pillow case or old pyjamas and dye them yellow? You could always paint some vertical lines to show the segments?
Or even simpler, just paint a picture of a large piece of fruit on a large t-shirt (adult size) or pillow case with holes for arms and legs?
You will find that some parents will go overboard with this - costumes can become very competitive. Ignore them - some people have hours and hours (not to mention the money) to try to impress other parents!
Just had a look online to see if there any manufactured costumes (for inpiration). Here are some:

Or a simple solution may be to do a hat covered in fruit (real or made from tissue paper etc)
You will find (assuming your child has just started school and you don't know already) that schools are rather fond of having days like this at short notice.
I recall my youngest suddenly remembering 'book day' and saying she wanted to dress up as a dalmatian the night before. We improvised with a while blouse and tights and black felt pen to discover later than she had the wrong day!! She didn't mind though (strange as the rest of the school were in uniform).somewhere between Heaven and Woolworth's0 -

Loads of great ideas - thank you so much. I will speak to her teacher on Monday and find out how long she'll be in fancy dress etc. Wouldn't like to think of her struggling to get to the loo!DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0
