My son has to dress up as a piece of fruit on Friday as the school are running a "fruity friday" to make some money to donate to cancer research.
The kids have to go to school dressed as a piece of fruit, my son wants to go as a banana
:rotfl:
Anyone have any ideas how i can do that without it costing me a fortune in materials.
Thanks

First off, it's a bit much for the school to ask at such short notice!
Right a banana, well you'll need something yellow:j
and maybe something brown for the stalk
So i'm thinking a hat made from newspaper that is painted brown and twisted up into a stalk.
For the body a yellow sheet, or do you have an old yellow dress/skirt/anything, you can cut up into strips and sew into a banana shaped bodysuit kind of thing?
Sorry, best I can come up with :cool:Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10

How about a large banana shape cut out of cardboard (ask for boxes from your local supermarket) and painted yellow with brown lines down it, make one for the front and one for the back and join together with ribbon, string or elastic. Then you could make a hat from brown crepe paper, put it around his head, sellotape to the correct size, and twist the top to make a stalk. If you have any face paint or make up you could write "fifes" on his cheek!

Not much help as a banana ,but y friend once dressed up as a bunch of grages! brown clothes for the stalk, and green balloons all over, looked great, but not that practical for all day at school!0

What about crepe paper? I know my Mother once made me a penguin costume out of crepe paper so I know it can be done (not that I would want to). Of course you have to walk very carefully in it! Can't you persuade him to another fruit? Round is so much easier. Does he have to stay in it the entire day? If so, ignore everything I've just said.0

Thought of the grapes idea myself but think all the boys in his classw ould get pleasure out of bursting all the balloons which could cause a bit too much upset.
As for how long he'll be wearing it, only for the morning so around 3 hours cos taking him out of school at dinner to go to the seaside for the weekend:j :j :j (will everyone please pray for sunshine)0 -
Hi Tigs. How did this go? My daughter has to dress up as a fruit for the same reason next Friday. She has no idea what she's like to go as so that's great for me - except that I have no idea how to go about this. The ideas are abandoning me but to make this more difficult I don't have any money either!
