Turn right down radiators in the rooms that you are not using, ie, spare bedrooms etc and close the door so that heat from areas your using doesn't escape.

Only have one lamp on in your living room at night and let your TV be your other source of light!!

Dont know if that will help anyone, but thought i'd throw them in there!! he he

I do this already, but instead of using a lamp at night, I use candles! Moneysaving and more romantic!

I have a large (50 inch) plamsa tv, do these use a lot of electricty?

Oh is it, i didn't realise, i thought it was normal.
Well it is normal here in Liverpool.

For me the biggest change is to read my meters at least weekly. It really is not difficult to enter numbers into a website like i-measure or smartmeter where they will work out how much you have spent. This for me changed my entire outlook from seeing an energy bill as just a DD from my bank to something I had a lot of control over.

I look at them almost every day but I can see the difference a dishwasher going through a 65C cycle compared to a 35C quick wash actually makes. Yet the pots look just as clean but maybe not as dry. In fact while I'm on the subject why does a dishwasher have to dry anyway? Can't it just end after the rinse and let me dry them manually after most of the wet has dripped off?

Turn down the thermostat a little bit and ask yourself if you can really feel the difference. You will see a difference in your bills. Make your house less leaky, you have paid for the heat so try and keep it indoors as best you can.

Heating is the biggest consumer of energy but change of habits can make a big difference over a year with things like switching appliances off at the wall. A laser printer on idle can still be consuming 17W.

Oh and change all your lights to energy saving bulbs which can be bought for 10p each.

Put a magnet on the side of the meter, the dial will go backwards and they will end paying you money.

Please tell me you're joking! Switching off lights for candles, and then switching on a 50" plasma TV, is like driving your recycling to the tip in a 4 litre gas guzzler...
At a guess your plasma uses 6-8 times the power of a 100W lightbulb?

check the wattage on the back, mine is:
    170w=0.17x15p=2.55p/hour to use it.
    (im guessing electricity is 15p/KwH)

also, put on your laptop or tv and the heat from them is enough to heat the tv room so turn off the radiator.

What size plasma is that though?
Accord to Which a typical 42 in plasma will use about 277W, so I'm guessing a 50 in is going to be something over 300W. So I was about 100% out...
I reckon candles will turn out to be the most expensive form of heating-'cos sooner or later they'll set the house on fire.

Not I'm not joking! I do use candles, but not really for moneysaving I just prefer the light they give off and they are more romantic!! My Plasma was a gift so obviously i am going to use it but I still try and save money where I can!
