The first question is: Have you saved a deposit for your new place? There may be a time where your current landlord has not released your deposit, while your future landlord has demanded one.

no, thats a very good point.

I was relying on the release of one to pay the other. However the parents and the BF have both offered to lend me the amount for the interim period...

And on that note, the potential new tenants of flatmates choice have said they cant move in. However she said she'll find someone......

    hmmmmmm.......
    next step suggestions?

Second question: Do you have enough money to pay your current landlord for the half-month you had?

One of your months was going to be short. IIRC it wasn't the one you'd thought it would be. Is it this one?

my month of being short has already been and gone.

End of this month I'll have the dosh to payback the LL.

Might just have to wait it out until January at this rate.
Flatmate is in no hurry to find anyone else to move in, and maybe having extra time is no bad thing. Just seems to be one thing after the other at the mo'

    Oh well, must keep smiling

Have you checked with your new employer that you will make the wages run for this month?

Also you will have to sort out your tax code. You may be on emergency tax code with your new employer. You do get it back but it is crap for cashflow in the meanwhile.

Am I right that this month will be short because you won't have worked all of it? Because you're leaving...

Sometimes patience is the best and hardest thing of all. Though I've never heard it called a "patience" before... :rotfl:

    Next: Do you have furniture?

Have you checked with your new employer that you will make the wages run for this month?

At the end of the month I will get paid a ful months wage from old employer, 3 weeks worked and one week of holiday time owed.

At the end of next month I will get 5 weeks worth of wage from new employer, as have missed cut off.
Also you will have to sort out your tax code. You may be on emergency tax code with your new employer. You do get it back but it is crap for cashflow in the meanwhile.

    All taken care of ;)
Oh, you're not getting all huffy on me are you?

am huffy through lack of control over certain aspects.
But as Peaches has told me, a little bit of time, will mean I can be even more organised, wont get stressed out with moving and christmas, plus I'll be able to take more time off work after xmas to move.
    Next: Do you have furniture?
yes, oodles of it. Will actually leave current flatmate with nothing when I leave..... have told her this but dont think it has sunk in yet

Sometimes you can't control everything. Just take a deep breath and smile.

Yep, very good advice. It'll also mean you have more savings in order to paper over any problems that may arise.

Have you got something arranged to move it? Do you know someone with a big van or something? Do you have a supply of burly men/women?

Also when choosing a new place, bear the size and access in mind. No good a first floor flat with a 12" wide staircase.
