Another two no spender for me....sunday and today!
AND...........
I got home to find my post and a letter from HM Customs and Revenue, only to discover that I had overpaid my income tax (not knowingly obviously!) and the lovely people there had sent me a wee little cheque for the grand sum of £119!!!!
How top banana is that?
So Im super happy with that, day off tomorrow so I can pay it in.
BF took me for a super roast dinner out last night so was happy with that. Didnt however get my xmas money, I feel a bit mean chasing him for it but not so mean that I wont! LOL
So with that and my unexpected tax money thats two debts clear!!! Now just need to pay them off. I'm all good with theory, it's the actual doing!
I refuse to let this money be swallowed up by nothingness!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -

top tip
Simply dont take any money with you anywhere!
I decide I obviously couldnt cope with having access to money so I simply cut myself off from it.
All my no spend days have been the ones where Ive left my purse at home! I see a pattern emerging!!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hi CAFCGirl,
I've been reading your posts for a while now - keep up the good work!
I completely agree about not carrying cash or having access to cash. I was a sucker for cashback, which meant I would spend what I was planning to spend and then have £20 - £30 cash, which, erm, got spent as well. In no time. On absolutely 'nothing'. I literally have no idea where that cash went...
It was when I saw that that pattern was emptying my bank account on 'nothing', was when I stopped doing it. Now, if I need some cash, I go to a cash machine and I get a receipt too (something I never used to do - what was the point!!!? Yes - "you have no money left") so that I can tot them up at the end of the day/week (what a nerd!!)
Anyhoo - have a good day!Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 208 - Proud To Have Dealt With My Debts DEBT FREE DECEMBER 2008!!!0 -
Another top tip there GTD.
Sometimes we just have to stand back and analyse ourselves as others would, it's good to have a think about things without it being emotional.
I didnt beat myself up for spending when I thought about it seriously, but realised that for whatever reason, the best way for me to combat my bad habits are to go in strong! Hence why I took my purse out of my bag, or left the debit cards at home etc.
It does seem a little extreme to some I guess, that I have to be like that with myself, but at the end of the day i know I wouldnt have had such a run of no spenders last week nor the two so far this week.
Cruel to be kind, even if it is to yourself!
Another thing to mention (and I'm sure Peaches will be proud here!) is that I have actually set up a standing order to my A&L account now for £120 a month for me money, food money and misc!
I'm impressed with myself for having bitten the bullet on that. I just hope the account was declared inactive (opps!) and the money goes through ok. I've set it up to transfer 2 days after payday in the hope that I can control the payday blowout, and if there are any problems with my pay, I can organise myself.
My pay should also be a little bit higher on friday as my payrise is backdated to the exact 3 month date from my startingI'm sure it wont amount to a lot, but again better than nothing.
Plan for today is solely to go into town, pay the tax cheque in, and patiently wait for it to clear lol, and find out exact re-payment amounts for my two Debenhams cards.
I feel good!Wealth is not measured by currency0 -
Hi CAFC Girl.
Just wanted to say I hope you are feeling loads better by the end of this week when the tax cheque will have cleared (fingers crossed) and you get paid.
January has been so miserable for so many people....bring on February and hopefully we can all start to feel a whole lot better...especially since it shouldn't be a 5 or 6 week period between pay packets as it is after Christmas till January pay :eek:Bank Balance: In the black for the moment.
Sainsburys Loan: Cleared July 2010
Credit cards: AMEX Airmiles Card: direct debit set to clear balance monthly
