As you well know I said `please consider`, not `you must`. I am sorry, I am used to discussions where the parties take reponsibility for their viewpoints like adults, rather than childishly distorting others. I`ll not waste any more of my time here.
your last sentence is the best thing you have said :p

Post one on here was brilliant and informative for those of us that want to save money. :T

It went downhill from post two, when we were taken over by couponers trying to force (sorry persuade) us to their point of view, but fortunately they are now going to leave.

    I never said I was going, I like a good debate! :D:rolleyes:

But this couponing lark - you and janiebaby29 don't really get it do you? Going on about Tesco having to pay their staff and meet overheads etc. shows that some naive posters actually think that Tesco were bankrolling the savings? No chance!

With their coupon policy, Tesco made money from MSEers and PTSers (another forum) and they managed to retain several high-spending customers who would have shopped elsewhere, and now are doing just that. While it lasted it was a win-win situation for the canny couponers and Tesco themselves.

The policy only stopped when scammers realised they could duplicate coupons (Martin didn't help by appearing on GMTV and mentioning coupon-use of this type, but that's a secondary factor IMHO that Tesco like to trot out to avoid admitting their stores were defrauded through what amounted to stupidity on the part of Tesco staff).

Please don't tar us all with the same brush though. If Tesco stopped accepting Maestro cards because some people were using fake cards, would you accuse all Maestro-card-users of scamming Tesco? Certain redeemable coupons were just the same sort of legitimate form of payment, in the few stores that allowed it.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Another one that want to jump down the throats of those of us who want a coat at a bargain price.

As said by janiebaby it IS freedom of choice where people want to shop.

Think a few people have too much time on their hands now they cant shop for free at Tesco. So nice not to have people in front of you handing over disparate bits of paper and selfishly holding up everyone. Think I might write to Tesco and congratulate them on their new policy.

little touchy are we not........you are beginning to sound like an old trout - lol!!!

The people who paid for couponers to shop for free are all other shoppers both tesco, sainsburys et al that takes manufacturers coupons.

Manufactures price products to take account of the scam of offering a coupon as cash, but not against their product, they knew it went on and all non-couponers paid the price literally.

Therefore everyone apart from those actually using the dodgy policy was paying in higher prices for their shopping so couponers shopped for nothing. I bet T's couldn't wait to see the back of most of you, and I imagine the average shopper who is used to parting with cash felt the same.

No, if Tesco wanted to see the back of us they would have done this years ago, but they were loathe to do so as couponers were usually much bigger spenders than average and very loyal repeat customers. Some of their cashiers were 'old trouts' about it but they didn't know the business reasons behind the policy nor did many Tesco staff understand the policy and which coupons were OK (a fact which facilitated its sad demise).

You would probably faint if I told you how much I 'spent' in Tesco each year using coupons that they could get the money back on. Specifically going out of my way to visit Tesco rather than anywhere else to buy all my family's presents, DVDs, games, toys, books, stationery some clothing etc. as well as all food every week for my family of six.

And yes, of course us canny couponers knew that 'other shoppers' were paying for our savings if they bought the products in question but didn't use coupons. That is obviously the case and has been debated many times before.

Now please can you tell me how that differs from the way non-MSE customers (or the non-discount-code-savvy section of the population) pay through the nose for everything they buy, as opposed to people who know better and use the discount codes, 'grabbit bargains' and 'loopholes' on here and from other forums?

IMHO the only difference would be that we used coupons for some of the wrong products (but not always) but the effect was just the same - other customers paid full price and we didn't. Now we all have to pay higher!

Now, back to that coat - has anyone else bought it? :rotfl:
