    Just to expand on my comment above, some laptops have function keys on the main keys so your E could also be used as a Euro sign if you press your FN key and/or if Num Lock is enabled.

    Failing that, any liquid spilt onto it?

    Hmm, has the keyboard become unplugged/loose from the back?
    I would unplug it and replug it back in and see how it goes

    Never seen that before especially from a PC
    I assume you use the standard UK British layout ? (check in control panel>regional settings)

    Google is pretty much empty of anything matching this so I suspect it is a problem with your actual keyboard. I'd suggest you just try a different one if you can.

    FWIW the € on this keyboard and on a desktop keyboard here is achieved by pressing the AltGr key together with the 4 key which sits just above E - is there any chance that you have one or more keys sticking - try pressing the E 4 and AltGr a few times and compare the feel with others.
