O2 created mobile phone acc in boyfriends name with my acc details...

Hi All,

I wasn't sure where to post this so I hope this forum is right...

My boyfriend and I both wanted iphones, which we planned to get online.

He filled in his details, got all the way through and was rejected for various reasons. He tried again and again but was rejected each time.

My turn next, I started again with a white iphone (he was trying for a black one) and I filled in my details, going all the way through and now have my shiney new toy to play with.

However... I hadn't heard from O2 regarding my contract since I signed up online, when I received an email to my email address saying they would contact me. So I rang up...

...all the acc details are in his name, his DOB, his password, his info but with my current account details for the standing order, my details for the delivery and my details for the payment for the phone.

I asked to change them to mine as there had clearly been some mistakes here (possibly as we live at the same address), however they won't talk to me because I am 'not the account holder'...surely they should talk to me as I pay the bill and if not, then I wanted to report them for setting up a direct debit on my account without it matching the name and details of the actual contract.

I hope this makes sense, I'd like to know where I stand with regard the details mix up, as my partner is happy to talk to them but they won't change the details- a rather large pain if we were to split up! Plus he wants the iphone with O2 and they won't open one as he 'already has an account', which he doesn't.

hopefully someone can help me understand what's going on and where I should stand with the contract.

thank you in advance,

Helen

Seems to me that he has inadvertently got a phone in his name. So change the payment account to his one then get your own phone in your name. He is the account holder of the current phone in their books - so be it.

If they want to play silly b*****s, then play them at their game.

    Job done.
