i dont get echeques at all. my other half has a one acocunt and he happily registered with paypal using the maestro card they gave him but when he went to buy some tickets it sent a blimmin echeque that wouldnt clear till after the concert date! so i had to pay the seller then he refunded the echeque which luckily he was honest but from a buying point of view they are annoying too!
who even pays by cheque nowadays anyway? so why did they invent echeques? daft0 -
I think that echeques are more widely used and (I think) clear quicker in the US and as we all know PayPal thinks that the whole world is the same as the US.0

Go into Paypal, click on profile, and in one of the columns click buyer payment options, in there about half way down is the tick box to not accept echeques. Tick it and stop receiving the bloody things.... It's what I've done!My broad mind and narrow waist are slowly swapping places!!0

Hintza wrote:I have had a few and never had a problem with them (apart from the longgggg time to clear). If this was my dillema I think I would run the risk and post the item out the day before you go on holiday the Saturday.
Its a risk...and only you can decide if its worth taking. Post it second class as well or possibly Royal Mail parcels (no tracking though!!) that would take a few days to get there.
NEVER send out items before payment clears, sending your item out prior to actually receiving payment is a sure way to get scammed.Stuff Happens As Wave of Ambiguity Spreads:cool:0 -

I don't think you have an option of whether to pay with echeque. I think that if you fund your PayPal account with your bank account, and you don't have a balance in your PayPal account it will send an echeque.
Are you really able to block echeques? There is a rule about having to accept credit card payments if you have a personal PayPal account and state that you accept PayPal. Therefore, having to upgrade your account. Surely it's the same for echeques.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0 -
I received a pending and it has been pending since the start of last week and the expected date has now moved to next Wednesday, echeques are a total pain in the next.
Think I have only ever received 3 echeques since being on ebay for 2 years0 -

it is the complete opposite actually. Echeques can be accepted by a basic account as they are a pure bank transfer and not associated with a debit card. Therefore paypal will allow them to be blocked as a buyer has many other options for funding all of which (co incidentally) would cause the receiver to upgrade to a premier account.
