Hey emlou, my Grandad was a vet too!
He actually wrongly sexed the cat I was talking about who had the head abcess!
He said it was a female (wasnt) so we left it into our surgery to be spayed and when we collected it I was told it had been a male and they had gone ahead and neutered it anyold how!
I was in shock and fuming about TBH. Hhaa, poor cat, I seem to remember I rejected him for a while *shame on me*
I would like to think that nowadays (this was 30 yrs ago) that my vet would ring me and explain the sexing mistake first and then ask for my permission to neuter?
    Arty.
Sorry for going off topic, hope Foxys' cat is getting better today of course!

  • Well he stayed in last night, i gave him some biscuits, which he was eating, (very loudly..crunch crunch, note to self, do not give cats biscuits when you are trying to sleep)
I tried to bathe it with warm water and he wouldn't let me, normally he loves human contact, but there was a bit of blood coming out.
He ate his breakfast this morning, went out to do his business and came back in again to sleep, oh to be a cat.
I will be taking him the vets after work, have an open appointment, poor love.

how funny arty, would you not have had him done anyway though? best to get it done while he was there instead of turning him out twice?

foxy, hope the appointment goes well later x

Glad to hear he isnt too bad today, not off his food is a good sign eh?
Yes, I would have had my cat neutered anyway so the vet was correct in what he did ,but I somehow felt we had both been violated!
I know its truly stupid, I also took it out on my poor old Grandad, called him a useless vet etc etc!Thinking about this has so clearly brought back the emotions of that 17 yr old girl I was then Not apparently the most rational time of my life!

  • Hi, sorry, yeah he is fine, antibiotics, injection, cleaned it up etc. said it was an abscess (well done you lot) and if it didn't clear up in a few days to go back.
Well he is absoloutley fine, no sweling anymore, just a bit of a scab, he also had a deep scratch in his ear which i hadn't seen so had definitley been fighting, naughty boy!!
