Swapping broadband provider

Hi I don't know if this is the right place. Please feel free to move if necessary. I am thinking of changing my broadband provider as I am about 6 weeks from the end of my 12 month contract and am sure there are better deals out there than currently on. My question is, I know I need to get an IMO code from current supplier, but how long does the process take to change over? Any help or suggestions would be great.

    I take it your ADSL.

Look under service providers - list/rate/compare. If the migration goes to plan you should be looking at 1-2weeks. If BT !!!!-up (possibility) then you could be looking at 2-4weeks.

I changed ISP with ADSL 3 times, two went fine, about 10days to migrate over, the other migration was a nightmare and I was left without BB for WEEKS :(

    Hi
Any good isp should give you your MAC within 48hrs after they have received your email/request.

Your MAC is valid for 30days from the day of issue, then you have to find yourself another provider, once your new isp has your MAC, it usually takes between 5-10days for them to take over your broadband connection.
Your not usually left without broadband, well I wasn't, your new isp usually gives you a date for your new connection.

    Hope this helps

I believe that normally a migration occurs after 7 days of giving it to a new ISP, unless your current ISP delays it somehow

Thanks guys (or gals). Will bear these in mind when I come to swap. At least I know I am OK for a few weeks, didn't know how long beforehand I needed to start the balll rolling.
