Cash

Welcome to MSE!
Processing payments over the counter costs, so I expect it's to save money.
It's not a problem though, is it? Most card holders find it more convenient to pay online or set up a direct debit.People who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
Have they sold them to MBNA or something?I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -
Many Thanks for your replies Moggles & Ben L
I’m very annoyed that my options are being taken away, I pay by cheque, via the post, I’m self-employed, my incomings & outgoings, are up and down, month to month, year to year.
I feel like I’m in a dictatorship, I wonder if they will reduce my balance, for their reduced service! Moving the goalposts, to suit their continual needs, is very draining for us customers!
If they have sold the Credit Cards, it would make a bit of sense why they are unable to take counter payments, but still..............very poor.
Most other businesses, would not be able to get away with providing such a shoddy service, I think most people have become accustomed to it now, it is the “norm” with the Banks, which is a shame.
Many Thanks

Rather than rely on the vagaries of the post, why not pay online?I pay by cheque, via the postPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0 -
It's a waste of time to go in to a bank and do it. As for cheques it would be no different just to do a payment online and much safer aswell!0

As the others have said pay online.
Normally you can pay credit cards through the card providers website or via your own bank online. Much easier.I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Thanks for all your replies
My handwriting (cheque writing) is quicker than my typing, logging on, passwords etc, so will stick with it for now (whilst it's still allowed!)
Paying cash into a Bank is always nice, the staff always give you funny looks, count it......count it again. You often have to answer questions regarding where you got it from for large amounts etc, its hilarious.
I like going to the counter in the Bank, I might change to Natwest, their adverts offer a cup of tea, some shopping and a natter.

So your handwriting, putting in envelope, buying a stamp, walking to post office, etc is quicker than typing in a few numbers & letters on the computer?
Jeez you must be really bad at typing

Awful at typing! But otherwise very fit and healthy, due to my 10 mile treck to the Post Office, buying stamps, posting letters, and nattering to people along the way.
No, luckily, I have a post box directly outside my house, and endless supplies of stamps/envelopes. Isn't it fantastic that everyone is so different, it would be so boring if we all were the same, always nice to hear a different view!
