PC keeps losing internet connection UPDATED

Hi guys, I need some help with my internet connection. The router is fine, other pc’s/Macs and assorted consoles can be online for extended periods of time with no probs, it’s just my pc.
I will attempt to describe the problem in my not-so-technical way
.
I start up Firefox (but same happens with IE), and check my email, surf the web, maybe log on to MSE, and without notice when I need to refresh a page/ open a new page I get the “firefox can’t find the server” error.
If I go to another tab and refresh/open a new page I get the same thing. I have no contact with internet, but windows doesn’t seem to notice this.
Now my OH and son had a look at this the other day and can see no problems, except that it might be a browser issue, so I reinstalled FF – it’s still happening, and also with IE.
I have done a full scan (6 hours worth, phew!) with malwarebytes as recommended here, with only 1 tracking cookie found (from a survey site I use), and I regularly scan with Norton so I don’t really think I have a virus, but I’m open to suggestions.
The only way I can get back online is to go into network connections and disable, then enable the internet connection.
Does anyone have an idea what might be the problem? Oh and let me know what info you need about the system.
Thanks for any help.
MrsB.

Heyoop,
First of all, can you do this for me, please...
- Hold the Windows flag button on the keyboard together with the letter R, and then let go
- In the Run box, type in CMD and press Enter
- in the black window that appears, type this in, then press Enter:
ping www.bbc.co.uk
You should see some stuff appear on screen. Does this say "reply from" or "timed out?"
After this, type in the following and press Enter:
ping 212.58.253.68
And then tell me what happens
Thanks

What happens if you do that when you think you've lost the internet connection though?
There should be (or at least could be) a little icon that looks like a monitor on the bottom right of your screen which represents your network link - is that showing a red X when it isn't working or if you hover the cursor over it what does the text bubble say?0 -

Nope
Was this the ping results from the www address or the IP address?
If that was the ping for the website address, then you will more than likely have an issue with some kind of firewall software on your computer.
If that was the ping for the IP address then you will need to do a ping for the URL as well.

Could you also do a 'ipconfig /all' in the CMD prompt and post the results when the network is working and one when it not working.
Have you added any new network device on the network as it could be that there are duplicate IP address or the IP address not being renewed by DHCP server.
I assume also that you are using dynamic IP address as well?0 -

MrsBartolozzi is able to ping an address/URL which means it's not an IP address issue
By checking what it was MrsBartolozzi pinged (whether it was the website address or the IP) we can determin what the issue is.
Best thing to do is to do both pings as stated in my first post, and then to post both ping results, from the www and the IP.
Then we can take it from there
One thing at a time

Except that this is an intermittent problem and not a hard failure so we don't know with any certianty that the ping was done when the browser wasn't working correctly. In fact I'd say it's almost certain that when the ping was done it was all working OK anyway.0 -
Ok, I typed "ping www.bbc.co.uk" on the command line.
I didn't see the second thing to ping oops. Those results were for the www.
When I do the ping for the url I get very similar results - time is 45-47 ms, everything else is the same.
Of course, as another poster has said, this is during a period when the internet is working. I will attempt when it goes again and post with the details then.
Oh, and when it's not working there is no red X on the connection icon (that's what I meant by windows doesn't notice the disconnection).
