T-Mobile contracts via internet

Good morning all,

Where do I stand on this please.

4 years ago I ordered a T-mobile phone contract via the internet for my partner, in my partners name (with his consent as he hates internet).

Then about a year after that another phone underthe same bill for me, then about a year after that two more phones for the children.

So we have 4 phones under one contract all from the internet that my partner has never signed for.

Is there a way out of this contract as my partner has never signed a contract. Also he has never made any payments as its always come out from my bank?

Any advice or idears?

    You do not sign paperwork with internet orders, you just put a check in a box and that is sufficient so, no is the answer.
    You cannot cancel without paying a termination charge until you reach the end of your contract. How much longer do you have left on the contract.

    Even if thou you got it for her, that wouldn't have grounds to cancel as it would require something such as fraud but I would guess she knew you took it out for her as she has been using it for a year or more, and if it was fraud they know who took out the contract, you.

    On a side note, you say they all come under the same contract? can you explain this further as i believe each phone had its own contract, and you say it has been running for 4 years, so generally 30 days notice would be sufficient by that point, unless you have renewed the contract to 12/18/24/36 months.
    Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

    More important - exactly what is it you want to achieve? If you want to cancel the lot at once and whilst still under contract, you are in some difficulty, but with more detail about your aim and some dates when contracts end, you might get some assistance.

    We have one bill with 4 phones on it. although I guess its 4 seperate contracts as each one comes up for upgread at different times. the longest one left is 14 months as it has just been upgraded.

    I think by upgrading each phone is the same as renewing the contract is that correct?

    Thank you for your reply. We have both been made redundant and would like to leave the contract.

    One is due to end 4th nov this year.
    One due to end Feb 2010
    One on Oct 2010
    and the last one to end december 2010

    Yes, by accepting an upgrade you are renewing your contract. We here haggle and get more minutes, lower monthly costs and a new phone :D Or atleast we try to.

    When your partners contract or any phone you want to get rid off is up for renewal/upgrade. Reject it and give them the 30 days written notice that you want to cancel. If you really do want to cancel, do not accept or request any PAC code, as this allows you to transfer your phone number and if you don't do it then the contract will continue on a 30 day rolling.
    One is due to end 4th nov this year. Ring customer services and then then send cancellation notice now.
    One due to end Feb 2010 Ring customer services and then then send cancellation notice in January 2010.
    One on Oct 2010 Ring customer services and then then send cancellation notice september 2010.
    and the last one to end december 2010 Ring customer services and then then send cancellation notice November 2010.

    If you are happy with T-mobile ask them to change the contract to PAYG instead of renewing and state you want to keep your phone number.

    If you want a new operator, request the PAC code before buying a new PAYG phone give the PAC code to the new operator (i.e. Vodafone) and they will transfer the number over in 3 working days. Check in advance with the operator you want to move to on their procedures for dealing with PAC codes as they can differ. Such as some PAC codes must be given when ordering, others when you are activating the sim card.

    Good advice on the 1st 2.

    Someone with T-Mobile experience should be able to help with their current approach to downgrading contract tariffs and from when in the contract. Please search posts and you may find out without waiting.

    I would also approach T-Mobile and ask for their Hardship team. (Then may not have one, but do try). Put your case to them and be prepared to show proof of your redundancies as I expect that a number of non-genuine customers have tried this approach because they want a new latest model phone on another network.

    But do try to keep your payments up to avoid a debt record and the very best of success in finding new employment.
