Monthly data usage - what's a good amount for an average person?

i had to upgrade my orange price plan earlier and got a pretty sweet deal, part of that being 500mb a month internet usage.

now since i've only got a motorola V8 phone, that's not really going to do much for me - i don't really use the phone for browsing because, even with opera mini, it's not really got the screen for it.

but for the odd site here or there or if i need to do a google search it's usually useful.

also, i'd probably set up the phone to receive my emails, but then i don't get many.

and probably finally, i might indulge in the odd tweet every now and again .. :o

so would 500mb a month cover me ?

never really had a monthly data allowance before on my contracts so this is all a bit new to me ..

I was worried about 500MB as well, esp in the beginning with downloading widgets and trying them like TuneWiki etc. I also receive emails, get Twitter updates etc and have never hit 500mB a months.

Try to change the frequency for most tools, like twitter and email. If you are at work, I guess there is no need to get your twitter checked every 15 mins, as well as your emails...

I also do surf a bit here and there... Keep an eye on it and be sensible and you should be fine.

You can check how much data you have used either by dialing 150 from your handset then option 1,1, then 3 or if you go to the your account section of the Orange home page on your phone it will show you what you have used. If you find you are using more data then you have 2 other options. You can either add the unlimited evening and weekend data bundle for £5.00 pm or you can ask CS to add on the £10.00 pm 1 gig bundle. For most people however 500mb should be enough.
