Hi everyone, and thank you so much for your replies :-)

The 37.5 range sounds worth looking at, I'll have a look on the internet and see what I can find. Ally the dress you saw sounds really nice from your description - problem is I live up in Lancashire :-( Still, might be worth getting in touch with them - they may have a web site? I'll PM you.....

We're planning to stay for about 2 weeks so I think that's a bit long in an icehotel! But although the place we're looking at (http://www.kakslauttanen.fi/) has log cabins with private saunas (which sounds excellent to warm you up after a day out in the freezing cold!), it also has an igloo village with proper snow/ice igloos. So I think we might spend our wedding night in one of those, then opt back for the warm log cabins for the rest of the stay!! We're planning to have the actual ceremony in the ice chapel or ice gallery at the hotel, so will definitely be needing a warm dress.

Keep the suggestions coming..... :D

Good luck again :-*

• Go for a good, heavy satin dress which is fully lined. You could go for a priness dress with lots of net layers. Not only would a big, white dress look fairytale but the layers will keep you warm!

I have seen some lovely sleeved dresses with fur-trimmed cuffs and neckline. You can also get the fur muffs which you can maybe decorate with flowers rather than having a bouquet.

Capes are a nuisance as they can be too heavy and restrictive. Go for a fur bolero instead.

Fur or even feathers are great because they really trap the heat and keep the cold out.

Good luck with your search!
Watch out people. You don't know what lurks around the corner for you!

Hello boots_babe

I've been inside the arctic circle but that was in Norway so I can't comment on the area you'll be visiting. I was there in January and it was -5C but the wind chill made it feel -20C.

I've only been to Helsinki in Finland so can only recommend a restaurant in the city centre. Have a look at their web site on https://www.lappires.com. It's fabulous traditional lappish food and the waiters are dressed in traditional lappish costumes........if you'll be visiting Helsinki.

Another venue to visit in Helsinki is the tractor bar.

The photo on the web site gives you an idea of what to wear in lapland ;D...........lots of layers is the key. When I was inside the arctic circle, I was advised to wear at least five layers of clothing. The layers trap heat.
10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life.
