Getting married in Lapland

Hi everyone,
We are planning to get married in Finnish Lapland in February 2006. There don't seem to be that many operators that cater for this, and the ones I've found mainly don't do the areas we're most interested in. If anyone has any suggestions or tips we'd be most grateful.
Also, as it will be rather cold (!) in Lapland, I will be needing a warmish dress. I want a proper white bridal gown but something which I won't freeze to death in. Any suggestions?
TIA everyone :-)

Thermal underwear is a must if you want any photos outside, but really that may not be possible. Indoors it will be very warm! The Finns joke that in England we heat our houses to the same temperature as outside. They don't: they insulate well and they heat well!
I don't know a lot, just that my now-husband spent a winter in Finland when we were first getting to know each other. That is over 20 years ago, but he said that casual visiting wasn't a possibility in most places: you had to phone in advance and arrange your visit because most people lived in flats, with no external door bells. Your friend had to be on the other side of the front door to let you in as soon as you arrived, or you were at risk of freezing to death.
Can anyone on the travel board help more?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Hi
Congratulations
I don't know much about arranging a wedding Lapland but do have a suggestion regarding your dress. Have you ever seen the lovely velvet capes that you can buy to wear over a traditional white dress. Not sure if this would be warm enough for Lapland but it may be worth looking intoGive me the boy until he's seven and i'll give you the man.0 -
there is a range of clothing called 37.5 (try surfing round to find it) keeps your body tempreture at 37.5 degrees, try getting a body suit to wear under a normal dress!
let us know how you get on!
good luckThat mrs macchicken to you!0 -
This is so weird ....... I saw a dress today which would have been perfect ..... it was beautiful ..... had a jacket too ....... looked very ummmmm 'snowy' if that makes any sense at all ::) When I first saw it, I thought it would be perfect for a wedding somewhere cold ..... or for me, under the Northern Lights ....ohh I wish *sign* ::)
Anyway, it was very thick and had very fine fur details (not real, and did look very classy)..... not sure where you live ..... if you pm me, i will send you the details of where the store was (SE London area), can't remember what it was called .... sorry, but it is the only bridal store in the area
Also, the tips for 37.5 sound fantastic .... I will also keep that in mind ...... though .... I do wonder, how quick can ya rip them off ???;D
I can say whatever I like here ... 'cos no one can see me .. ner ner ner ner ner !!!....How do you know I ain't sitting here butt naked?!?!I thunk I've made you think for a minute!:j :rotfl: :j0 -
