mobile gone thru washing machine
Wife has just put her V3 motorola thru washing machine
Luckily the sim card seems ok as it works in my similar phone
The phone was bought thru e2save and is on a cheque back orange deal
What is the best course of action
Is it to try and say the phone has just gone faulty ,or would they know straight away it is water damaged ?
Try and buy a phone off ebay and put sim card in.I take it i would still get same orange deal ?
What are the issues regarding unblocked phones(do not know how it works)
Would sim card fit any phone?
Any advice is very much appreciated

From experience, there will be water if not soap inside the phone. AFAIK the only way to revive it is to open it all up & put it in an ultrasonic box. Not sure what the success rate is though.Certain OTT members have caused me to add this disclaimer: all advice given is free of charge & as such should be taken to be IIRC (as I don't spend hours researching all answers  )!0

They will detect that it is water damage, so no warranty will apply, but maybe insurance?
First thing - take the battery out, as short circuits can occur even when switched off. Some people's phones recover a minor wetting after stripping down and a period somewhere warm, such as airing cupboard, but I would think that ultrasonic cleaning is best here, and would prevent further corrosion. But it may well be just too wet or too late.
The SIM will work in any unlocked phone. If buying a new one, you might look for a payg that are slightly subsidised and locked to a network. Most, not all, Nokias are the easiest to unlock, or you could get any phone already on Orange and swap the SIMs0 -

Yes to the first.
You sim card is the contract, the phone is just the hardware it works in, so any Orange phone or any unlcoked phone will take your sim card.
Best bet is to buy an unlocked phone from ebay, they are actually pretty good value and it is the easiest route if you are unfamaliar with the workings of mobile phones.
Alternatively, just buy a cheap phone from Orange and stick your sim in it, such as this, http://shop.orange.co.uk/shop/show/handset/siemens_a62/detail/pay_as_you_go0 -

Put it on a washing line and let it dry out

Just found out my mrs has left her mobile in her pocket and put it through the washing machine. We're both a bit miffed, me because of the cost of replacement.
She had a motorola v620 but contract isnt up until November so I need to replace the phone on a budget.
First off, any chance the phone will work again? Clutching at straws I know!
Failing that, sticking with motorola flip type phones so V3 or U6 PEBL, where can I get a good deal on a replacement? Can't get another contract really, so I guess a Pay & go one is required? Would prefer not to pay £100 though!0 -
golddustmedia,
We had the same situation twice with sons phone, a couple of years back.
We just left it to dry overnight and it worked!! I dont remember what cycle it was on but it didn't seem to do it any harm. The second one we had to claim off of the household insurance, which allowed us a replacment with a twenty five pound excess.

I did a similar thing with my then, new bluetooth.
Left to dry at ambient temperature for a couple of days, and presto,it worked.
At least it cleaned the wax off it........That's my mutt in the picture above.0
