Don't knock Legoland if you've never been! - It's a fantastic day out, especially for toddlers and small children. I've never paid full price to go in, there always seems to be free kids vouchers etc. available ( I think on https://www.lastminute.com they are £10 or £15 each until the end of June)[/QUOTE]
Seconded! Legoland is great for families and there are 6 of us in mine. Of course you don't just turn up at these attractions without getting a discount voucher first (or looking on lastminute.com as mentioned). We used to when we only had one child but soon learnt to be a bit more canny!
If you can't find a discount voucher use MSE to ask where to get one online, you should have replies within the hour and be able to print off a discount straight away!
This year I've already converted some Tesco vouchers to Legoland tickets ('only' £7.25 each for adults and £5.75 each for kids) can't beat it!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I went to Chester Zoo and that was a great day out. I think the price is £15 for an Adult. I went for the missus bday and bought her an adoption pack for £40 and got 2 free tickets a few certificates and another free day out in the year (a choice of 2 dates) and you get really close to the animal you adopted, and your name on a plaque, aswell as a magazine every couple of months. So for an extra £10 its worth it.
Also no queues as you are a member then

Weve been to Logleat about 5 times and are about to go again this summer. Weve even chosen a campsite just up the road so we can go for a couple of days.
Each time weve had a passport ticket and used it up over 2 or 3 visits!
My daughter was 4 when we first went with Nursery and we loved it.
I've used my Tesco vouchers for the adults tickets this yr at £6.50 worth, but will get the kids ones online and I'm looking for a discount code at the moment.
We always take a packed lunch and have eaten it on the many benches that are round.
We didn't see as many animals on the safari the last time but stopping off with the giraffs at the trading post was special.
My kids watch it all the time on TV so will look out for bits they've seen on TV.0 -
Whatever ,I have been there and ,I DON'T think it is a rip off .
Look at Woburn £16..50 an Adult for just the safari Park ,Knowsley is £10.00 an Adult for just the safari park (longleat as well if you just do the park )
Whipsnade-£15.00 an Adult .
Blackpool Zoo £10.00 an adult
Marwell Zoo -13.50
All of these are charges just to see the animals alone .
You get more than that for £19.00 at Longleat .
I disagree that Woburn is a rip off. When you reach the leisure area after to safari tour, you can choose to make as many loops of the safari park as you want. Plus most things in the leisure area are "unlimited".
Whipsnade is the real rip off. It trades on being part of the Zoological Society of London and shoves ZSL and how great they are down your throat. It's £18.00 for a Whipsnade Adult ticket plus £15 to drive your car into the park!:eek::eek: If you don't pay to take your car into the park then you can't visit the Passage to Asia which is the best bit and the free bus service doesn't run through there. Whipsnade has fantastic views but is horribly run down and tatty - if you use the free bus to get around you won't see much because the windows are so badly scored and marked! The man without a signature.0 -
Thought I'd add my thoughts. Generally, I have found most zoo/adventure parks/theme parks in the UK to be poor value for money. Overpriced food too.
One to avoid is the Dinosaur Park, Tenby - absolutely pants. Family ticket £22 and next to nothing in there, and what there is you have to pay extra for.
Chester Zoo is good value - not cheap, but a full day out if you get good weather.
Blue Planet aquarium near Chester is interesting but expensive - only takes my kids about an hour to get round it all, but at least you can go back round. Burger King nearby too.
Gulliver's World at Warrington is good value - a full day out and the food isn't too overpriced. Okay, it's not Disneyland but you can really get your money's worth if you go on a quiet day. Have your tea at Ikea.0 -
I loved longleat. We used the passport to go twice in one week so that we could see and do everything we wanted. We loved the safari so much that we paid the extra 11 each to go through again on the second day. Compared to lots of other attractions the passport ticket is incredibly good value for money in my opinionSealed pot member 735

We went a couple of weeks ago to Longleat for the 1st time and only paid for the safari park as our kids were too young to take advantage of the other attractions (they are aged 2 and 9 months). The good thing about their age was that they both got in free.
I thought the safari park was excellent but did think the food was a rip off- even by the standards of these type of places. When I compare it with other attractions we visted as part of this holiday it was far and away the most and not even that nice. So definitely picnic next time!0 -
OP did you email longleat about the visit being not very good0

I agree these places are very expensive generally and I think they need to get their act together and sort out some summer pricing deals... think Martin might have eluded to this recently and I hope they are all listening..... I live in Buckinghamshire and I love going to Whipsnade Safari Park - much cheaper if you are a member of ZSL London Zoo. Their family ticket is about average but I do think it is a great day out (weather permitting). They have a special Big 5 Adventure and you pick up your trail pack and off you go. There are loads of other things to do and you can still have plenty of down time in the wide open spaces. Another advantage of Whipsnade is that it is part of the ZSL London Zoo group so if you or your children are really into animals there are great resources on their website. They have some great video, a great kids zone with interactive books and games and this is all free. I usually encourage the kids to spend a little time on the site before we go to get them interested in some of the animals so that they have something to look forward to when they get there. I think they are just about to produce a baby elephant so that will be worth seeing!0

Worst place ever it the raptor/reptile place in the new forest - it was almost £20 for myself and my 2 children to get in to see no more than 10 tanks of various snakes lizards and bugs and a few cages outside in the rain with birds of prey in it. I was disgusted considering the butterfly centre at Earnly (nr chichester) charges the same with a butterfly house, bird house (you walk through them, they can land on you) a fab cafe (good prices) leading on to a reptile house packed with (rescued) animals, a small animal area, outside beautiful different styled gardens and sheep and chickens bunnies etc.
I couldnt even use a loo at the raptor place let alone get a cup of tea.Life happens, live it well.0
