  • I did look at some of these but the limited range put me off. Would be OK if i went straight to work and back, No detours to the shops etc.

If you are sure you will not travel more than 20 miles, That links says 8 hours to charge.

But it also says 5 - 8p per KWh, Probably double that now.

Only a 6 month warranty on the battery.

I bought a petrol one and have covered more miles than that when the sunday sunshine called to me. Perfect for nipping past those sunday queues to the markets or car shows. Then a bit of lunch etc.
More flexiblility than a battery scooter.

Thanks for your input. I wouldnt do more than 20 miles for sure, i suppose the idea is theres less overhead costs with one of these, id like to try one out though

If you can live with the range it looks good.
For a similar amount of money you can get a "pedelec" power assisted pedal bike, which can run on electric motor alone. Power assist up to 15.5mph. If the battery is flat you can still pedal it. Realistically in a town environment it's going to get you there almost as quick as the scooter.

Ive looked at them too. Although the car is handy, and can go further in, im not sure i can justify spending a minimum £1500 a year to keep it on the road for what i use it for, and i thought something like this could potentially save me quite a bit of money, possibly.:p

As you say, at first glance looks very similar ... except for the much lower price.

However, a couple of potential issues:
    1. This one, unlike the one in the OP, comes without any registration so you have to do this yourself. You get given instructions on how to do this which appears simple enough. However, I don't see anything about it being EU type approved.
If anyone is thinking of buying one, best to check you get a type approval certificate ... or look into what it will take to get it type approved yourself.

    2. Probably almost impossible to get spare parts if it goes wrong. Mind you, at about 1/3 the price, you can probably afford to throw it away and get a new one if it needs repairing. :D
Zippe say they have spare parts in stock for their machine.

I'd be more inclined to go for ne of the better known makes.
There's been a few 'watchdog' type things on the Tv about these type of scooters, i don't say this make but they've been slated. Many of them unsafe from new.

Thanks for the tips, so there isnt anyone with any experience of this particular brand?.
Seeing the video they look nippy. And regards a scooter/motorbike, i dont really want one of them tbh has i just thought about a bike with as little maintenance as possible.
Ive looked at normal and electrical bikes, but just came across this and thought i wouldnt mind a go.:rotfl:

  • Bargain price compared to the previous link.

Says DVLA pack included and 40miles range. I presume it must be road legal to be supplied with these.

    Registration costs approx £70.

Lot less money to lose, If you decide its not very good, Pretty sure you could customise it with the rest of the money left over.
