most places will have these wind back tools these days, you can pick them up cheaply nowadays.
I just used a big G clamp in conjunction with the old pad on mine. Don't know if there's something on newer ones that prevents this?!

These are rear brake pads, many require a special tool to screw them back in, as suggested by others.

I suspect that you are thinking front discs.;)

Yep, most rear brakes have to be screwed in to retract them. I can't imagine any garage not having the tool as these date back to the Sierra and such like. Not quite sure with the megane scenic, but what I do know is that the operation is by means of a motor mounted somewhere at the mid rear underside of the car. It has the handbrake cable attached directly to it.

Guess what:confused:, if the hand brake cable needs replacing, you have to buy the motor as well. £250 just for the part last time I heard:eek::eek::eek: Nice one Renault, not.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed
  • It an automatic handbrake. You can put it on manually but it releases as you drive off. Does not surprise me about handbrake cable thing. Just paid £40 for wiper blades as they have to come from Renault. Its a lovely car but I think its going to be abit of a money gobler. The front discs and pads were replaced recently and the discs cost a fortune too.

Thats great thanks. Now i know I haven't been ripped off. I thought it would be quicker than that. I know places like Kwik Fit won't do it as they haven't got the right equipment. Crazy as thet are supposed to specialise in brakes. Garage said its some sort of diagnostic equipment as car has an automatic handbrake.

If you always go to a "Main Stealer" then everything will cost a fortune. I had an Alfa a couple of years ago, and they wanted £90 to replace the front wipers :eek:
So, I got some Champion ones off the web, along with the front discs and pads, and the whole lot cost me just over £90. I probably saved myself over £400 in labour as well.
I should mention that the "Main Stealer" has since gone bust - shame :j
