does it? whats so different about them?deedee1968 wrote: »Renault grand scenic so I suspect its a bit trickier as it has a special parking brake.
the only thing that i can think of is that it has a rear drum within the rear discs with brake shoes, the shoes and drum are the parking brake and the discs and pads would be the service brake....work permit granted!0 -

most places will have these wind back tools these days, you can pick them up cheaply nowadays....work permit granted!0 -
Thats great thanks. Now i know I haven't been ripped off. I thought it would be quicker than that. I know places like Kwik Fit won't do it as they haven't got the right equipment. Crazy as thet are supposed to specialise in brakes. Garage said its some sort of diagnostic equipment as car has an automatic handbrake.0

Electric handbrake? Rather than a lever between the seats that you pull up.0 -

ive often wondered how these work. is it just a solenoid thats being operated when the button is pressed or is it something totally different like an electro magnetic set up.
electric vehicles i repair have electro magnetic parking brakes on thier traction motors, ive often wondered why these have never been popular on cars, its such an easy set up with virtually no maintenance required and easily out last the lifetime of the vehicles....work permit granted!0 -
I've only experienced two electric handbrakes. The Jags is completely silent in operation so I couldn't tell. The VW passat handbrake sounded like Rover Metro central locking motors, so I guess its a chuff-off great big solanoid.0
