My pc threw up this message on screen today ...
'Diskeeper has detected that CHKDSK is scheduled to run on the volume:New Volume (c:)
This is due to either a user request or because the operating system has found errors in the file system. CHKDSK will run automatically during the next system reboot until CHKDSK is run Diskeeper cannot defrag this volume'
Right, I haven't got a clue what it means, have been asking over different boards since 4am this morning and still nobody seems to know ...
I defrag nearly every day and somebody is supposed to be coming today to do work that means turning the leccy off. Am I going to be able to get back in or not ...!!!!!!

Have you restarted and let CHKDKS run yet?0

Hi,
I don't know how technical you are - Diskeeper is additional software simular to the windows defragmenter. Turning the computer off won't cause any problems so don't worry about that, it will more than likely display the same message next time.
Defragging your PC every day is a waste of time, at most this needs to be completed once a day, otherwise you are moving files for the sake of it every time a value changes.
The best solution I have been able to fine is to uninstall Diskeeper then run a windows defrag and a system scan. Reboot your machine once complete and it should be solved.
If you experience further problems there are more indepth ways to solve the problem, I can't post links as I am new but if you paste "Diskeeper has detected that CHKDSK is scheduled" into google and click the third link down - you should definatly be able to solve the issue.
Good Luck!0 -
For a start off defragging nearly every day is simply crazy. The whole point of a defrag is to rearrange the files on your disk into an optimum order. There's simply no point in doing this every day even assuming you're installing / uninstalling 10+ programs every single day. At most do it once a month. Even then I'd say this was a lot.I defrag nearly every day and somebody is supposed to be coming today to do work that means turning the leccy off. For the CHKDSK message - reboot your PC after the electrician has been and leave it to do a check disk. If for some reason it doesn't then follow this guide:
For Windows XP:
Step One: Open "My Computer", RIGHT click on the C drive icon, choose "Properties".
Step Two: When that loads, click on the "Tools" tab, then click on the "Check Now" button in the "Error Checking" section.
Step Three: When that little window loads, place a CHECK in BOTH boxes, then click on "Start Now".
Step Four: A message will pop up saying that Error Checking will run after you restart the computer, so......Restart the computer. Error Checking will run automatically after the restart and it locks you out from doing anything until it's finished. It takes a little time to perform the task but after it's finished, it will restart into Windows automatically.
Borrowed from: http://www.updatexp.com/windows-xp-chkdsk.html
For Windows Vista:- Open the Start Menu and click Computer.
- Right-click the drive you want to perform a check disk on and select Properties.
- Click the Tools tab in the drive Properties window.
- Click Check Now under error checking.
- To perform a complete check of your hard drive for errors check off both options in the check disk window that pops up.
- Click the Start button to start the process.
- If you are trying to check a hard drive that has open files you’ll get a message similar to the one shown below.
Click Schedule disk check. Disk check can’t check a hard drive that has open files. Your computer will reboot and check the disk before Windows Vista boots up. If you want to cancel the scheduled disk check for any reason, check out this guide.

Don't you just wish that sometimes you could thank some people more than once!!!!
I'm not technical at all, in fact these things give me a nervous breakdown, but I'll try the google thing and see what happens.
Just out of interest, and this is the first time this has every happened, I've currently got 5 screens opened, if I try to open a sixth the page just won't load. Don't know if it's got anything to do with it?0 -

You can't shout at me for defragging every day - never used to but the last guy that came out here to mend it said I had to do it when Diskeeper popped up. So I did (I'm a good girl, I am!)
I'll stop now.
Thanks to all of you because my nerves are shot to ribbons. Haven't tried it yet but I will.
Just out of interest, I've posted on three other boards from here to the US and you are the only guys to help!0 -

I didn't mean to come across as shouting. Just a shame you've wasted so much time for no real gain.
Any other problems, queries or worries - post back and I'm sure someone will offer assistance.David I've got CCleaner loaded ...
Can you try running it with all Internet Explorer / Firefox windows closed then try again? Let me know the outcome of the chkdsk as well...0 -
It's loaded but I haven't tried running it for a couple of months.
This is the reason:
Ccleaner empties the antivirus vault. Now, a few months back I had trouble with trojans and for a couple, instead of repairing them and sending them off into oblivion, I managed to load them into the vault (panicked when pressing the button)
I was told (by the same guy who told me to defrag everyday) that if I emptied the vault the trojans may be released and cause some damage ...
Hence, my trojans sit there and I daren't empty the vault, neither could I find a way to repair them.
Hope you lot are still with me on this ...
(and I didn't think you were shouting really.)0 -
