Philips Webcam for £5.99 delivered. (CLOSED)

Play.com have a P.C. game called Camgoo on offer for £5.99.
It sounds similar to the eye toy thingy on the playstation 2.

It comes with a Philips webcam in the package, so looks like a good deal to me. I've ordered one, so will see what kind of quality it is when it arrives.

Seems like a genuine bargain....the Camgoo website puts the cost of the webcam alone at £29.99....

Therefore £5.99 delivered for a webcam & fun game is too good to pass up on.

    thanks.

I've been looking for a cheap webcam so this may do the job.... reviews here at Amazon seem good to (on the webcam and game)

It only looks like a diddy webcam...

Well I had this (quite) expensive Philips SPC 900NC webcam which was absolute rubbish.

I could bearly get it to stay on my screen and the software kept on crashing.

Get a Logitech like this one.

Philips = £5.99 delivered (with free game).

Logitech = £42.99 delivered (no game).

As it goes I have that Logitech webcam you recommended already (& it is very good), but it's hardly fair to compare a camera with another that's presently seven times more expensive? Getting this one for my workplace so the kids can keep in touch with me there....if the webcam *is* pants I'll throw it in the bin & the kids can have six quid's worth of fun with the accompanying game!

They won't have much fun playing the game without the camera Hank! It's part of the game.

Well I'm figuring I can use my aforementioned Logitech QuickPro 5000...after all, a webcam is a webcam.

Let's put this into context....*if* the Philips is absolute pants & if I can't use my Logitech in it's (ie with the game) .....it's six quid we're talking about!

I got one of these a while back - it's shaft.... doesnt work with PC's built after 1066. Even after trying a million different drivers. There might be a magic combination out there that works, but I never managed to find it.

I've not looked this time - but last time, play had a disclaimer that read along the lines of "no refunds if it's incompatible"... which should actually be changed to "we don't think it'll work, but we'll sell it you for !!!!!! all so you won't be too annoyed when it doesnt work".

Well, I bought one of these a few months ago for £7.99. The camera itself isn't too bad quality wise, even the mic isn't too bad on it. BUT I had problems getting it to work on one of my windows xp PCs, on the other it worked fine. I made the 'mistake' of installing the philips drivers with the camera one the first PC - on the 2nd I just plugged it in and it auto-detected and works fine. Only problem is that I can't remove the philips drivers from the PC to get it to work with both.

Philips webcams are usually a cut above the rest, so seems like a great bargain :D

What are the minimum specs for this? I can't find them on the Home Page. I'm thinking of using it on a Windows ME PC with integrated graphics. Do the drivers support WinME?
This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!
