List of known fakes sold on eBay

  • I'm amazed at how much stuff is fake but it does seem to mainly be brand-name items.

Has anyone bought something like an antique or vintage piece that's turned out fake? I read something about forgery factories in China churning out paintings by famous artists as well (Warhol, Hirst etc)

Here's a blatant fake for you (or at least pirated copy...thingy). Why do some people bother, like anyone would buy anything like this (especially considering the seller's feedback)

I've seen the following available for pennies at tourist markets throughout the Far East and they must turn up on eBay with alarming regularity:

    Birkenstocks
    Diesel watches
    Diesel jeans
    Seven For All Mankind jeans
    Calvin Klein boxer shorts
    Hermes scarves
    "Paul Smith" labelled goods
    "Liberty" labelled goods
    Lancome lipsticks
    Miss Sixty jeans
    Clinique skincare
Any high-end handbags (Chanel, Mulberry, Fendi, Chloe, Todd's - all with dustbags)

It's been pulled now, though. Should save a few people from getting a hard-drive full of spyware and adware.

I saw a signed Charles Dickens paperback. No idea who it was signed by since he was long dead by the time paperbacks were invented. In fact I've seen lots of 'signed' books which came out long after the author's death.
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
