List of known fakes sold on eBay

Hi

I've noticed quite a few people have been stung buying fake goods on ebay. Maybe it would help if we had a thread listing personal experiences of these items? That way people could scan the headers and take extra precaution.

I could start by saying that OH blithely bought Gillette blades thinking they were genuine but of course they only worked once. They looked very similar to the real thing though.

From experience, a lot of the Yu-gi-oh cards sold on ebay are fakes. We bought a load a few months ago, and could only sell about a quarter if them, all the fakes are just sat in a box awaiting burning in the winter months

Pokemon cards are getting as bad as well, a lot of the sellers that know "nothing", actually know they're selling fakes. We had about 5,000 cards turn up over the last 2 weeks from various sellers, and there are about 500-750 of those that are fake.

On a positive note, fake DVDs seem to be on the decline :)

Things that I know that are hugely faked on ebay:

    GHD straighteners
    Tiffany jewellery
    UGG boots
    Chloe bags
    Hermes bags
    Christian Louboutin shoes
    MAC make up
    Ed Hardy stuff
    Chanel merchandise
    Links of London jewellery

If I think of anymore I'll come back!

Bought is to buy. Brought is to bring.

Fake Gameboy games (especially GBA) and there are a lot of fake Nintendo DS games which are basically the game copied onto a normal SD card. These are pretty easy to spot though, if there's no box or instructions, stay well away.

My mom bought some Oral B toothbrush heads and they all look genuine but the screws holding it together started to come out into our mouths! Will always just pay full price again rather than getting them cheaper on ebay.

    Load of perfume brands.
    Loads of watch brands.
    Almost all Tiffany jewellery.
Vast majority of designer branded leather handbags.

Basically, anything with a brand name on it can be faked, and usually is.

    USB Memory Sticks/Flash Drives....

Especially High Capacity (8GB+) ones from Hong Kong.

Apparently most are a maximum of 4GB and then chipped to read as 32GB for example which will fool the PC when you check the drives properties but any data that you put on over the original capacity will be corrupted.

We bought one of these- the seller had good feedback for them and then pretty much as soon as we bought it went not registered.

If we could unconfuse it then I'd be quite happy actually, since it was free (paypal refunded, and we paid next to nothing anyway) but I'm too worried about data corruption.
This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine

I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine. :p

I bought loads of A&F clothes(mostly sweaters) over the last few years from US ebay and never(touch wood) had a fake. They were not "hot" items however and from older collections.
