mistaken use of parking refund voucher

Options
Has anyone had this problem? What was the outcome?
I parked in a Sainsburys car park and purchased a ticket for one hour costing 80p (£1 to me because the machine does not give change, grr). The ticket comes in two halves because Sainsburys refund one or two hours of parking for a minimum spend in store and so one half is the refund voucher. I then seperated the tickets and unfortunatly put the wrong one in the car. It does state on the refund voucher that it can not be used for parking however the refund voucher also lists the date, fee paid and expiry time. I have both halves of the ticket and proof that I made the sufficient purchase in store to be elligable for the refunded parking (and so no cause to try to swindle the 80p charge) and could probably ask for CCTV footage to prove that did not park two cars and use one half of the ticket for each(As the council have suggested I would do!! To save 40p?????). Any thoughts people?

  • What exactly are you asking? Have you received a request for money for using the wrong ticket or are you asking if you can get your money refunded from sainsburys? If its a request then do nothing and just ignore their tequests. If its reclaiming money then just ask them.
I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.
  • Sorry, got carried away and missed the point. :o
They stumped me with a fine for not having a valid ticket. Just wondered if I have grounds to fight it or if anyone else had done so in the past.

It doesn't sound at all like a Council? Are you sure this is not a private 'ticket'?
  • It was issued by Tonbridge and Malling borough council

There's no harm in submitting an appeal. Include photocopies of both parts of the ticket,

  • I have allready sent an informal challenge that has been rejected and the rejection letter states that we have to wait for a Notice to Owner document that will be sent after the 28 days has elapsed and the fine has gone up before I can make a formal challenge. Is this normal?
