Get PAC or sign up for new contract - which first?
Do I try and get my PAC code first, or do I sign up with a new provider first and then get the PAC code? or doesn't it matter?
I want to move from Orange to O2, and from what I can gather, it appears Orange refuse to give you your PAC over the phone and will only mail it. What with the continual postal strikes going on, I'm worried I won't get it for ages...
Or can I sign up with O2 adn get a different number, and then just port over my old number if and when it eventually arrives?

Call Orange and give your 30 days notice. Ask for your PAC. You will receive the PAC over the phone/text/letter. What I do is wait until about 23 days have passed from giving 30 days notice, and then purchase the new deal you're after. When that has all arrived through the post (assuming ordering online), there's usually still a few days left before the PAC expires. This means you minimise the amount of time you have to pay 2 networks for service.0 -
thank you! Sorry - should have said that I'm currently on PAYG, but want to go onto a contract , so I'm guessing soon as I get the PAC I can sign up with the new provider..0

Yes... just make sure you use up all your credit as I believe it's non-refundable, and you may lose it when PACing your number out.0
