Hope I am not asking the obvious but why do you think you need a driver?
This seems to be an internal drive for a PC - something I've never known to ask for drivers!

If I have misunderstood, please do correct me

Otherwise, you may just need software like Nero to burn cds etc?

Will wait for your reply before carrying on making a fool of myself :)

you shouldn't need drivers for a cd/dvd drive.

if you need some software to burn disks, i'd suggest imgburn

No its fine for asking, ..My friend said I will probably need to download drivers . Also I have swapped it from the original one I had at first which didnt do all the same as this one .It does not show whenb I look under my computer it is not on the list and neither is my old one now . Also when I inserted a cd it did not play or come up with my usual prompt , so I assumed it has not been installed ??
So your help would be great as im not sure on what im doing now ;-)?

hmm still strange - Cheetah I assume is software?
It might be that that program was bundled with your previous burner and sometimes, it can be locked to that specific serial number of the device.

    Grab http://cdburnerxp.se/ which is free
Never failed me on many burners now - see what happens with it.

Just watch the install as it may ask you to install other things at the end-say NO
Once installed - it will probably put some shortcuts in your startmenu that you "could" install but again, dont and delete the shortcuts. Apologies for this but the software does have that one downside.

Anyway once installed, give it a go and see if it runs.

On another note, does it read normal cds and do you see it in My Computer?
Windows Explorer to a certain extent should also detect a blank cd (not dvd) and bring up a menu to burn audio/data onto it

How is it connected ATA/IDE or SATA?

If ATA/IDE, have you set the Master/Slave/Cable Select jumper to the same setting as your old drive?

    <Edit> ATA/IDE cable
    SATA cable

Ive installed cdburner ..Thankyou but it keeps saying No disk ????
And yes I made sure the cable went to the correct one as my old one as my friend made it very clear to me to do that . So there was n writting on the old one so we put it into the same destination on the new one .
So im really struggling now ??
Thankyou for all your aid so far

What about my other Q - Does it read normal cds that you have?
And does it come up in my computer?

If yes, do you have another brand of CD you can use?
