Internet and/or Phone connection in London - Suggestions?

Hi there,

I moved into a flat in Deptford, SE13, about a month ago. The previous occupant had the phone line and broadband connected to Bulldog Communications. I didn't wanted to be tied into a 12 month contract and Bulldog's customer service is awful. So I waited for the line to be disconnected, which happened this week.

I phoned BT to get a phone line so I could then go ahead and get hooked up to Eclipse Broadband, 1 month contract, nice customer service (Eclipse).

However, I have just cancelled my connection with BT before it was installed. It turns out that the line in my flat has always been with another provider and that I will have to pay BT £100 for connection and be tied to a 12 month contract. I was told none of this when I made the order.

I now need to start from scratch. All I really want is an internet connection. I have more than enough free minutes on my mobile, so I'm not really bothered about a phone line.

Does anyone have any suggestions of someone who will connect my line in London and not tie me into a 12 month contract and/or charge me £100 for connection? Or an alternative way of getting just broadband on its own?

Any help much appreciated

Chris

You have to have a phone line to have internet. Whoever you take line rental with will want a minimum commitment from you of 12 months.

If you sign up with Bulldog prior to 31 May 2006, then they will instal the line for you for £1. This is probably your cheapest option currently.

For BT to quote the full installation charge of £100 means that ther miust never have been a BT exchange line at the premises.
