I didn't know that
I haven't had a blue bag yet but I did think some of the dates on the Sains stuff was a little short - a lot shorter than the dates I had with Tesco.

I like the Mr S deliveries and have used them when my parents were away (I don't drive and my partner has a motorbike so not good for big shops). I use my partners account online (that I set up :rotfl:) so he gets the points. The drivers are very nice and have a joke with me (although some wouldn't be appropriate if my partner didn't work for Mr S aswell
). I don't think Mr S is more expencive than Mr A or Mr T personally (I don't shop at Mr T at all now and rarely shop at Mr A).
The only thing that would be nice is the same staff discount online as instore due to my partner working for them but they are still fairly priced I think (although if we want something expensive like alcohol he goes there himself/gets it after work to get the discount :rotfl:).I am a vegan woman. Think I will give it a go on this weeks shop. I received some money off double points vouchers from sainsbury's can I use these online too?0

devilis_vixen - if the vouchers have an e-voucher code on them then you can use them online but if they do not you can not from what I know.I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy0

I disagree that Sainsburys are more expensive. I think there is just a perception that there is. We were a bit worried about using Sainsburys as it would be more expensive but our bill seems the same.
I think the service for Tesco and Asda varies from place to place. Tesco delivery where we are seems a bit patchy and normally acceptable but never overly great. Yet where my parents live they always have very friendly drivers who insit on bringing the shopping into the kitchen and will stay and chat.
As for use by dates I don't notice any difference and the shoppers are suppose to do the shopping as if it was their own but I wonder if there is any pressure on them by store managers to take the short dated stuff before the long dates. Although we buy fresh stuff from the market as its better quality and cheaper.0 -

Suze
It may vary from place to place. I don't really notice the use by dates, except when I am doing a review of the fridge and then it is usually 'oh, ages to go on this'. I do check the meat when it comes, and have been pleasantly surprised, but I do keep that in the freezer anyway.
I think putting notes on stuff that you need long dates when you do the checkout is perhaps a good idea. I get a weekly delivery, which had really cut down my spending even with the extra delivery fees compared to monthly, so there are very few things that I would really need to worry about.
I also use Cravendale filtered milk because that lasts, and lasts and lasts. For my personal situation I can get enough for a week without worrying about it going off.
I think the deliveries vary so much from area to area. Locally Tesco are absolutely appalling, but when on holiday in an area not covered by Mr S they were pleasant, efficient and there were no unpleasant surprises.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0 -
I shop at Sainsburys but in store and use long-life carrier bags. I'm attracted to the idea of using them to shop on-line - what do they pack the goods in? I wouldn't want to return to plastic bags.fitzroy0

Lots and lots of flimsy carrier bags
But you can give them back for recycling. I usually get the bags in, unpack at my own pace, put all the bags together and give them back with the next delivery.
Interestingly, sometimes the goodies are packed more efficiently with less carriers and sometimes single items get a carrier - I think it rather depends on who is packing that shift.Ankh Morpork Sunshine Sanctuary for Sick Dragons - don't let my flame go out!0
