Well we gave Sainsbury a go and we have found its much better than Asda or Tesco. Firstly you get ONE hour slots and also when you search for an item you can just bring up the special offers on items that match that description.
Anyway we used it for the second time last week and had the 1pm-2pm slot. Anyway we got a call at 1.30pm to say that the driver was running late and he would not be there till 2pm would we like to change the slot or are we okay if he come before 2.30pm. So we said fine no problem as its only 30mins. Anyway 2.15pm he rolls up only 15 mins late for our booked slot. Anyway he gives us a "Sorry we didn't keep our promise card" with a £10 voucher off our next order. No min spend you just can't use it on the delivery charge. To be honest we were not bothered by him being 15mins late so it was great customer service to get a voucher given. So well impressed.
We have had Tesco come late before and our delivery charge refunded only after we have phoned them to find out why they are late.

I agree, I really recommend Sainsburys. I don't drive so I could never never do a big shop as I couldn't carry it all home. Only £5 delivery charge and we got a call from the driver to say he'd had a few cancellations and he could come a hour earlier if it suited us. He was very good and gave us loads of information about shopping online as we were new to it, including about the voucher (even if they're just a minute late!)
They did forget a bottle of wine we ordered but to fair he told us to always check our receipt and give them a ring if we hadn't got something we ordered and they'd come back with the missing item. We of course chucked it and only remembered weeks later
Excellent service, only wish I'd started ordering online ages ago!0 -
i'm going to do online shopping in december as i hate supermarkets close to xmas
hope sainsburys are in range for me, the shop is about 4 miles awaythings arent the way they were before, you wouldnt even recognise me anymore- not that you knew me back thenMercilessKiller wrote: »BH is my best mate too, its ok

all your base are belong to us :eek:0 -
I have been using Sainsburys for 6 months now and cannot complain about anything. The drivers are always very cheerful and on time. I have had absolutely no problems with the food. I'm very fussy about fruit and veg, but I haven't had anything I would not have picked myself.0

I agree Sainsburys online shopping is way above the rest. Great customer service, the drivers are really friendly and helpful. I usually end up getting a lot of my shopping delivered in an earlier slot but they always call to find out if it's ok.
Also not had one error in 5 months in any of my Sainsbury's shops. I'd expect 1 or 2 every now and again, but Asda and Tesco were messing most of my orders, one had more than 50% that was wrong. That was the last straw and so I gave Sainsos a go. Not bad prices either :T
Well done Sainsos :beer:0 -
Have never had a problem with Tesco's- although Asda are awful - they never have the right stuff and their delivery times in this area are a bit limited.
The one time Tesco were half hour late, they phoned us from customer services (though we hadn't complained) and said they had sent us a £10 E-voucher as the driver was late, by the sheet!:T
Have always had the full shop and no silly subs.:T
Sainsbury's are ok - but, of course, they are much more expensive than Tesco or Asda.
So, depends what is most important, I suppose - and it depends on where you are.
When we lived in Sussex, none of them were ever on time.
So, for the moment, I'll stick to Tesco.
LinYou can tell a lot about a woman by her hands..........for instance, if they are placed around your throat, she's probably slightly upset.0 -
Agree, sainsburies are really good. They are a bit more expensive than tescos but you get what you pay for. I really like the £5 voucher they give if late, I'm always tempted to block the top of our road off for a few minutes to delay them a little0

I don't shop at Asda but in my experience Sainsbury's isn't much more expensive than Tesco - and I do buy a lot of branded goods. On many things, the Sainsbury's and Tesco prices are identical. Sainsbury's special offers are just as good as Mr T's as well IMO.
Also, Sainsbury's doesn't do that annoying thing of making bigger packs more expensive per 100g/1kg etc. I always have to do loads of mental arithmetic when I shop with Mr T which doesn't bother me but it does mean I find Sainsbury's a lot less hassle.

I live about 10 minutes walk away from my local sainsbury's but I don't drive. Usually ask my mum to take me but some weekends she is away so I plan to go for just the essentials but that usually ends up being the heavy things like juice, milk, and fabric softner etc so don't end up going. The thing I was wondering is I'm fussy when it come's to the use by dates on things like meat, milk, bread and yoghurts. I'd much rather buy them at the latest use by date possible. I have wondered about online shopping but the thing that has put me off is the use by dates. For those of you that do your shopping via online, do you feel you get better value for your money if you like on certain products by buying them instore or online?0

I found (in terms of online shopping) I got fresh stuff with longer dates from Tesco - all the stuff I bought from Sainsbury's had a use-by date within two or three days. However this wasn't too much of a problem for me as I'd bought a lot of meat that I wanted to freeze anyway.
I guess if you're fussy about dates on meat, milk, bread and yoghurts you could always do what I do and freeze stuff that's near it's use-by date (if you have a freezer) - you can do this with the meat, milk and bread. I've no quick fix for the yoghurt situation although have you ever tried making your own? Not sure if it would make economic sense as I've never tried it, but at least you'd have more control over it.
Or, try it, and if you're not happy with the dates, buy the fresh stuff from your local supermarket and order the rest online. We have to do this inbetween online shops as we only order once every four weeks or so. It kind of depends how often you think you'll need to order.

I've actually found that the use by dates are pretty long. My son is a toddler so lots of yoghurts and fromage frais and I have always found that they are dated well ahead.
On the website they indicate fruit and veg which may have a shorter shelf life eg blueberries typical life three days. You can also put a note next to the item when you checkout about preferences.
When they deliver, if something has a shorter shelf life than usual eg bread a little nearer the sell by date than normal, they put it in a blue bag and you have a chance to reject it. It is a while since that happened to me, even on a weekly delivery, and I can't remember the exact details but it was bread and there wasn't really a problem.
I have also found that they are very competitive with prices, the quality is so much better and their basics are extremely good and still ethically sourced. Their basics fruit and veg are extremely acceptable and I would happily recommend them.I wonder if there is a Sainsbury fan club?
