please help - BT bill to join TalkTalk

Dear all, please advise,
I was with Bulldog and couldn't apply for TalkTalk until I went back to BT. Did go back to BT 6 weeks or so ago and applied to Talktalk on the understanding from their advertising bumph that their fee included the money I was already paying to BT.
Just got home to a bill for £132 from BT. TalkTalk service hasn't kicked in yet. Can I do anything? Has anyone had similar experience? If this is true, I really feel misled by TalkTalk. I cant call anyone until tomorrow morning...and I would like to be ready with the right thing (if any) to say. There was a pre recorded message from TT on my home phone as well - welcoming me and providing me with an 0844 number to call.
Please help, many thanks,
Cat

Hi Normanmark, I got the correspondance at 9pm by which time their helpdesk was closed. I will call them tomorrow morning.
In the meantime, does anyone know if the TalkTalk fee includes a fee to BT or have I got that completely wrong in which case has anyone got advice on how I can avoid paying the money (which I gather is a termination of contract fee) to BT. I just dont have that sort of money...Amazon Sellers Club member 0021/Ebay/carboot/extra hours junkie0 -
It clearly says with reference to Line rental
''TalkTalk line rental costs just £11. However, this is not an extra cost to you as you already pay the same amount to BT. We simply handle it for you instead so you don't have the hassle of paying it separately.''
Perhaps I should stop worrying and just speak to TalkTalk and BT tomorrow.
Fingers crossed.

Right - well - panic over I think.
Spoke to BT, the ammount they have requested is an extimate and the termination will cost approx £13 which is much more manangable.
Will call TT as well.

Thanks ms money penny - I would love to undo my move to TT but I understand that I am already tied in. If you can advise me how not to be I would be grateful. I dont have the same access to this site as I used to (partly due to lack of broadband) so I am having difficulty working through the threads.

You would have to ask to cancel the package but you will have to pay £70 as they will say it costs them £45 to put the marker on the phone line. I've been with them less than 3 months and i'm in the process of cancelling mine although from reading other peoples stories its not going to be easy0 -
I think I will be ok. I spoke to 2 very helpful customer care people at TT today (was on hold for a total of 96 minutes). By the end I believed I was not going to be liable for any charges as my phone had not switched over yet and the assistant told me she was sending me an email to confirm everything - but I haven't received anything which is a bit of a worry. I then spoke to BT who told me to call them 2 days before the contract/phone line is scheduled to switch so that, if TT are not true to their word in cancelling their application to take the line over, BT can do it instead.
I do have a mitigating circumstance to add to everything though (something I did share earlier with the assistants I spoke to) - I will be (at short notice) taking 6 months away from the UK so the TT contract would have been a very bad option.
Thank you again MMP. It is good to have the 'thank you' button back.

Just to add to the above. TT didn't cancel the application I made as they had said they would on the phone but I spoke to BT as well - they told me to call back 24 hours before the change over was due to take place (BT gave me the details). When I called back, no change was expected on the line so BT did it all for me. It has now been over a month and I haven't had any repercussions from TT.
