in Credit cards
hi - have been on the compare credit card sites and it states that an instant decision is given for some cards,e.g. virgin. How can this be when some people on this site say they have to wait a while for a response? thanks

Yes, most credit decisions are computerised and Virgin gives instant decisions and credit limits, provided that your identity, available credit and so on can be verified electronically via the CRAs, which in turn collate data from public records such as the electoral register

sorry another question about this virgin cc. I have read on this forum to only really use these cards for balance transfers; But what if they offer the 3 months interest free purchases as virgin cc does and I pay off the purchases within the 3 months - will the payment go against these purchases or the balance transfers? confused!0

If you want an easy life, it's best to keep balance transfers and purchase transactions on separate credit cards, as Martin advises.

Do I detect a little sarcasm there?kindofaverage wrote: »yep, that is realllly helpful yorkshire boy ?
Question answered, and a reference given for you to check the exact wording for yourself.

One thing to note with the Virgin CC, if you are using it for balance transfers, the maximum direct debit they will set is £25 or whatever the % is for the minimum payment. I didn't know this before I took the card and they told me over the phone as I wanted to set my payment higher. The reason? Incase I made purchases which took the minimum payment over the amount I wanted to pay so instead of making one payment each month, to pay any more I have to send a cheque off. Not exactly handy."Life may not always be the party you wish for, but whilst here you may aswell dance"!!!

Online banking
Telephone banking
Register with Virgin's online service and use your debit card
Ring them up and pay by debit card
or even use the BGC tear-off slip on the statement at your bank branch counter.
There's really no need to send cheques through the post, and risk them going astray, in this day and age!0
