i would think ebay will just try to get a cheap courier service but if its too dear for X items then you're on your own
unfortunatly RM's prices are artficially low for many things so no couriers going to get near them

I agree. I only had a few parcels today to post as I am winding everything down ready for my holiday, but I sent 17 items and only spent around £21 on postage. Even on those figures no courier is going to be remotely interested in my business.

Out of interest- today is the first day for months that I have receievd no post at all and it is getting a bit late now even for our posties.

also something to bear in mind.
RM have been advertising and i assume employing a lot of 'xmas' casuals
    now lets get it straight.
we are just into October so we are 2 months off from the traditional xmas pressure period.
RM deny it but this is obviously strike cover so the impact may not be as big as many expect

Before my son found employment elsewhere (much worse pay though alas) he applied to RM to be a postie and they never did anything other than acknowledge his application. We can still see a local ad asking for staff and if you go through the agency (our local one that handles RM casuals is Manpower) they tell him not to bother as he won't get it.

He is now earning about half of what RM were advertising for casuals and his current employer only gave him the job because he has a degree. He'll hate me for mentioning it on here though, as he is just so embarrassed not to have even got an interview at RM when they are obviously desperate for staff.

Yep , about the same as his new job, no guaranteed work , all shifts and sometimes only a few hours notice of work. He works part time in a factory as well for minimum wage just to get to a reasonable wage.

He quite fancied being a postie, half my family started off at RM on a delivery route.

I'm old enough to see that as a possibility, but Manpower say it is nonsense, but just said he wouldn't even get shortlisted without elaborating more. They might have bene trying to be politically correct of course.

Oh well, I still have no post here, perhaps my bit of london has suddenly been affected by strikes after all this time?

i hear RM are now phasing out a lot of Sunday duties in the mail centres

    I always have post!

Anyway, I think someone is having a laugh as I have now had 3 deliveries

Firstly my neighbour knocked with a bank statement for me that she said had been put through her door this morning. Dealt with that went to go out and found more post in the porch.

Put that aside, just been to sorting office to collect a parcel from Saturday , came home and I have been red carded for a recorded item.

Custardy, are you sure you aren't down South and playing tricks on me :rotfl:
