"SMART failure predicted on HARD DISK 0: TOSHIBA MK3021GAS (PM)

1720 S.M.A.R.T Had dsk detects imminent failure (failing Attr :05h)

Please back up the contents of the hard drive and run HDD self test in F2setup

    It doesn't sound good..

    Have you tried this:

Please back up the contents of the hard drive and run HDD self test in F2 setup

    Is it out of warranty?
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?

The message suggests Hitting F2 at bootup, and there should be an option in the bios screens.

A smart failure, usually means it is about to fail, so if you have any data on it, back it up while you can.

you could try this, it might work on a Tosh.. but it won't fix the problem, just tell you that you have one.

You could possibly use the sale of goods act (as amended), to claim that it hasn't lasted a reasonable amount of time.

Didnt run on the laptop sadly but that

One positive development is that just popped into work and tried it out on the network there and the connection was not lost once! Guess this proves it is a modem isue??

Bit strange thought considering housemate had no porblems at all
