Its funny we are on a site that advocates bank charge reclaiming and most posters are sticking up for bank charges .
yes i do think there is that many people with that many claims - martin Lewis said so himself on this site and twice on telly in the past month.
Some people work for employers who are aloof and would not give a hoot about causing bank charges .
I think some people need to peek out of their ivory towers on occasion , maybe they would then stop being so aloof and holyer than thou .
While i am on i will just respond to a couple of really condescending replys - i am fully aware of the oft case and have been involved as a third party with a company bank charge claim dating back to 2002 - this was before tv got involved and it escalated to its present point-- There are some points being overlooked in the rush to push through the oft case that need to be addressed - the clue is in the original posting and the truck acts or employment rights act - we do need to protect incomes , and although i do agree with a lot of things posted in reply , no one is picking up some prevelant points -its no good locking the stable door after the horse has bolted - think on !

So you wouldn't go to the employer that caused you having charges in the first place, but you will go and blame the banks instead??
i do not blame banks , i blame you and i for being complacent , allowing things to go on unaddressed whether we are involved or not gives large organisations too much power - as i said and will say again we are responsible for our own finances but to put too much trust in banks is inviting abuse , thats what has brought us to the situation and these postings .

Do you actually believe that 26 million people have claims of £1900?
i did not say that was definate - i was simply using Martin lewi's own guestimate as to what the possible outcome could be.

While I agree that bank charges are frequently very high, you agree to them when you sign up to the account. If you don't like charges, you shouldn't set up direct debits that will be taken before your wages - its just spending money that's not yours

Why should the bank finance someone's lifestyle?

This board and the Savings and Investments board have completely different users.

The users here are not that sympathetic to those that dug themselves a big hole and want an easy way out.

If you want that side, go over to the reclaims board or the DFW board, as users there are.

Yes i know but its so much more fun on here and to be honest - its just debate you don't get much of that when every one agrees.

It's funny that you try to put everybody down for encouraging people to be responsible for their finances. Basically, they're advocating being an adult.
I do not try to put anyone down for being adult ,there are other ways of responding to peoples thought without being just rude , condescending , arrogant and small minded , luckily not every one on here is and there have been some interesting responses.
