tax creds run on

iv stopped workin and have applyed 4 income support. the woman on the fone said i will get 4 weeks run on with my tax credits. will i just keep getin the same amount 4 4 weeks or will they stop some of it? also will i get 1 lump some or will it b over 4 weeks? thanks

when my dad got made redundant he still got wtc for 4 weeks. dont get your hopes up though as you wont be getting extra money for 4 weeks. in my dads case he was getting £30 a week wtc so they just took £30 a week off his pension credit for 4 weeks. so i guess they would do similar whatever benefit you claim when a job ends, whether it be jsa, esa, income support or pension credit. so to be clear while you wont be worse off you wont be any better off either.

You will get 4 weeks lump sum by giro. Get JCP to call Tax Credits as they can speed up the process of the run on payment if you are a single parent claiming IS.

if you are getting income support you will get the same its just part of your money will be wtc for 4 weeks. for example if normally you would be getting £60 a week income support and you have been getting £30 a week wtc while you were working. you will then just get £30 a week income support and £30 a week wtc for 4 weeks. after that you will get £60 income support and no wtc. it is worth telling the people you are claiming income support from that you will get 4 weeks wtc just to cover yourself but they will probably know anyway.
when my dad applied for pension credit it was easy. he just called them and they sorted it out for him. he got a letter soon after telling him how much pension credit he would get and he also got told about getting wtc for 4 weeks and how much that would be and therefore how much pension credit would be reduced by for the 4 weeks.

im getting income support yet, as i only left work on thursday, i phoned income support on the thursday and i went to my local job centre on the friday 2 sign the papers.
I have just been reading on the tax credits web page, and they say it can take up 2 6 weeks 2 get payment. I have 2 young boys, how will i live, i will have my rent coming out n other bills by the time the sort it.
WORRIED NOW.

i dont think it will take that long. if it does take longer than you can manage then contact them and ask what help there is available until you get paid. why are you not claiming jsa?

im a single mother, 2 two boys aged 6 and 2. My two year old is disibled and his health isnt getting any better. So i was advised to pack in work to try and help him get better. I will be able 2 get income support. as i dont want a job yet, my son needs me. i hope i dont sound like i i dont want 2 work because i do. i loved working but i do hav 2 put him first.

there maybe other benefits that you can claim as well as income support. its worth enquiring.

The WTC run on payment is paid as a 4 weekly lump sum even if normal payments are weekly. If there was a delay in notifying TCO that the job had ended he may have had 4 weeks of WTC by the time the run on was calculated meaning he didnt get a further 4 weeks payment.
