Can I just add to this thread, that this is symptomatic of a very irritating corruption of the English language!
I personally always give 5 stars when I leave feedback, as I like to support fellow sellers, and I contact sellers before leaving feedback if I am not happy about something, as I would hope buyers would do to me.
HOWEVER, it is perfectly reasonable for a buyer who is completely happy with the whole transaction to leave 4 stars for everything: Accurate, Satisfied, Quickly and Reasonable are all positive adjectives.
I believe that if buyers realised the impact of leaving 4 stars many of them would leave 5 instead: most people view 3 stars or less as a complaint. I can imagine many people leaving 5 stars for postage of 1p and 4 stars if the cost was the actual postage cost.
We see the same thing in other areas: a school graded "satisfactory" by Ofsted is not really satisfactory, it needs to improve.
Rant nearly over, but from now on I am going to include information about this 4 star business at the bottom of my listings and ask buyers to bear it in mind when leaving feedback.0
