Ever wonder about those people who spend £2 apiece on those little bottles of Evian water? Try spelling Evian backward.
  • first post here i am a compulsive bargain shopper and regularly buy great bargains but dont need them and they end up in the cupboards. i have a £1375 overdraft which id love to clear , so here i am. Check bank account - figure out how to sort o/draft!
Miraculously cheap meal plan for week - 5 of us + dog & cat
Sit down together & watch family TV with bit of supper tonight (babe in bed)
    Bit of ironing

that's more than enough. Wish me luck.

  • I've only been a member of this forum a short time and occasionally look at this section. Before when I looked at it I wondered if I just picked a day when everyone did their online banking checking as everyone seemed to have that as part of their list.

I now find myself looking at mine every day now. Checking it against my own spreadsheets. Staring at the spreadsheets for hours (not continually I might add) wondering how they are going to change. It's only by analysing exactly what I spend every day I realise how much money I have wasted. £12 every time I'm late with the credit card payments.....about £60 I've lost over the last year and a bit.

I've been using cash for the last few weeks - I ended up with about £250 in coins and rather than take them to the bank I've been using them to shop. (Quite embarrassing handing over 53 one pound coins in Asda I might add). This way I notice how much I'm spending.

Money wasted in credit card interest and still buying items on credit when I have such a large (for me) balance.

Anyways - I know it's probably not meant for this thread but I'll post my current situation here as everyone else seems to have things like this in their signatures.

    Cash £ 82.36
    Bank £ 217.10
    Credit card £ 3747.02
    ISA £ 240
Loan from parents for car £ 5500.00
This is approximate - I'll need to update it to get correct figure. It was £6000 two years ago and is ridiculous that I've only repaid around £500. The only repayments I make on that loan are I pay their phone bill for them. Complicated - but their phone bill doesn't get sent to their address and I said I'd pay their phone bills for them.
I'm just heading off to Morrisons shortly. Walking down now instead of driving - I'll be honest and say it has nothing to do with the environment but just to save on petrol. Just going down for milk, lettuce and soup. That's all I need - why get anything else.

Then the rest of my evening will probably be taken up with updating my non-league football results website. And looking at my online banking again even though it can't have changed.
    AT 1st SEPTEMBER 2009
    CASH......£ 321.41...
    BANK.....£ 625.75
    C-CARD...£ 5101.85...ISA......£ 120.00
Loan from parents for car ~~ £ 5500.00

    AT 31st OCTOBER 2009
    CASH......£
    . 50.23...BANK.....£ 723.12
    C-CARD...£ 3818.67...ISA......£. 80.00

    Hi all -
Hope you are having a lovely time at the cottage SM!
Rachel - so glad you had a lovely wedding day. Back down to earth with a bump now I guess.

OH has been ' suffering' following our night out last night to a charity quiz (Came third), and B is out so T and I have had a lovely frugal day out in the sunshine, including a ride a miniature steam train. Also:

    1) Went to Adventure Wonderland using season tickets.
    2) Hokey cokey drying in the sun.
    3) Recieved a £12 voucher from survey site.
    4) Sold some of T's boots through Netmums for £10!
    5) SCs, checked Quidco and banking.
    6) Entered some comps.
    7) Bought an advent calendar for 30p from a charity shop. The lady was also giving away wristbands for free and gave me some for my charity
    christmas shoeboxes.
    8) Also bought Coupling Series 1 on DVD for £1 and a book for T about trains ( surprise surprise).

I have been naughty and ordered Pizza Hut for tea, but used a voucher and we have dinner for 3 on the way for £10.38. Hopefully it will cure OHs 'suffering'.

Right, off to watch the twins get voted off X-factor!
    See you tomorrow, L x
