Help! it looks like i've got rust spots in my stainless steel kitchen sink
I sprayed some bleach round it last night before i went to bed and when i went to it this morning, there are little rusty spots all over it!
Thing is,my house is rented and the landlord only fitted the new sink a couple of mths ago and i want it looking all sparkly clean again!
I tried spraying more bleach on and then rubbing them with one of those sponge scourers but it didn't work, so if anyone's got any good ideas please .....

Hello mandy_moo_1
If you have a magnet, put it on your sink to test. Compare the magnet on your sink and then the magnet on the head of a hammer (which should be strongly magnetic) to see the difference is magnetic pull.;)
If the sink is magnetic then you have a low grade stainless steel. There are ferritic or martensitic or austenitic stainless steels............and many grades of stainless steels.
Your cutlery should be a good grade (austenitic) stainless steel and won't be magnetic so try your magnet on a fork for comparison.;)
If your sink is strongly magnetic or even slightly magnetic, it will have a higher concentration of Iron in the stainless steel............hence the rust spots.
I've just tried a magnet on my stainless steel sink and it is not magnetic............and it's never rusted either.:D
Happy testing

Try a little bit of Bar Keepers Friend powder. I reckon that should get the rust out.0
