Iphone - how to transfer songs onto PC

My OH recently did some back-ups on our home PC. unfortunately I can't find my songs which were on my ITunes then - but I can see them on my Iphone when am connected to the PC - cant add any more new songs to the Iphone. I am told there is a device or way that I can transfer all my songs from the Iphone to the PC and start all afresh. Any ideas would be appreciated. Apple store were not able to help resolve the problem. :eek:

I'm pretty sure there's no quick way of getting songs FROM the iPhone TO the computer. This is because Apple doesn't want people buying songs from iTunes on one computer and using their iPhone to distribute the track to multiple other machines.....

You can do it using some software you can download (I have done it using a PC (now have a Mac)). I am afraid I cannot help you with the name, but try a Google search and there will be someone in another forum who will have answered your question.
